Strange postings by AMD seem to maybe lead people to believe that even they are raising prices arbitrarily.

AMD Ryzen 9 7950X,  Corsair Mp700 Pro M.2, 64GB Corsair Dominator Titanium DDR5  X670E Steel Legend, MSI RTX 4090 Associate Code: H5U80QBH6BH0AXF. I am NOT an employee of EVGA

Just like Nvidia knew with a monopoly they can inflate prices and people would buy because there was simply no one else from which to buy VGA's able to maintain good performance at 2.5K and 4K, AMD will do the same and acquire as much revenue from miners. Whatever the real reason for these price hikes, both companies are taking advantage. So are DDR4 fabricators. And recently I saw the PSU's go up in price at my retailer. Then I drove by a petrol station. Petrol went up by $0.30/litre. Diesel went up by $0.10/litre. Since when are chips 5/bag, which still contains mostly air? Man, I'm almost afraid to say it......I need to buy shoes.

AMD is encouraging higher prices while trying to make it look like they are doing all they can to keep them low.

That's the point, that's the way AMD's PR decided to pursue some years ago, blaming developers or competition for bad performance (and proving themself wrong a week later by fixing their driver), advertising an MSRP that's lower than what retailer pay for the product (and get spoiled by retailers which warned its costumers of the price increase), paying for reviews (which is really bad by itself and wont help that reviewer confirmed that they weren't required to make the "sponsorship" clear), overclockers dream that turned out to be nightmare, the list is long... They even got me to revalue Intel :)
This makes me think they could have risen Polaris prices too...

And why should the RETAILERS get all the benefit of the shortage-induced gouge pricing?

Now that vorsholk has stopped his abuse, I'm returning to folding.
I no longer MOO due to abuses by certain "whales" in the Gridcoin community - so I now work the Distributed.net project directly again.
