Since the interior of the Antec 900 is a default gray, I decided to paint it all black. I also added a white stripe across the top and front. The expansion slot covers were painted white as well. I will take pictures of the exterior once I am satisfied with the stripe since it leaked through and I have to repaint.

My other mod is to rotate the hard drives to the side so I can run the SATA power and data cables through the back of my case. It will be a tough one to pull off since I have very little free space after rotating them.

Painting pictures:

Expansion slot covers.

Original front 5.25 covers:

Painted covers:

Interior final (next mod is to help the horrible cable management you see. )

As I said earlier, the top also has a white stripe but the paint leaked through the tape (cheap crap) and it messed up. I will have to redo it soon.

My plan for rotating the hard drives is pretty simple, I am going to cut out the side to the right of the hard drive in the pics and rotate them. Also making a few brackets to hold the drives in place using some scrap metal from an old computer (hopefully my dremel can handle cutting through it). I just came up with this idea today so I haven't had time to do much. I will start cutting tomorrow, so expect more pics soon. One problem I will hopefully not face is the fact that I have very very little room to pull this off. You can see this from the pictures.

Metal measured. The 7/8 inch pieces divided on each side are going to be folded so I can drill a hole in them and screw them onto the case. The middle section will have holes drilled to hold the hard drives. 6 pieces total.

    HD to case width comparison:

No, I didn't sand, I probably should have though. The paint came off easily in some areas when I started putting parts back in. Pics were taken two weeks ago except for the HD mod. The paint is really on there well now. It is really hard to scratch off.

    The stripes look sweet.
    Thanks.

:P nice build and I never seen anyone mount a harddrive like that in the front. Curious as to how you'll pull it off ^^

Also you should cut then paint that way you wont have chipping paint when you do cut your holes to route your wires.

Yes, I am fully planning to have to repaint this case. Going to use sandpaper and some primer this time.

The hard drive won't be mounted like you see it in the 3rd picture. It will be similar to the 2nd picture. I took them to show how little space there was to fit a hard drive in sideways.

I should have some pics up by the end of the week. Just have some more cutting, folding, and drilling to do and I'll have my hard drive mounts completed. Still working on mounting the hard drives correctly. There wasn't enough space to do what I originally wanted, so I have been exploring other options and have finally found one. It is a PITA to get it the way I want it though. I ordered some new SATA cables from the egg so I don't have black, blue, and red cables in my case. Painting will be soon after.

After a few days of work and about 30 dremel wheels, I have finally finished the brackets that will hold the hard drives.  They look pretty rough because I had to change my idea from drilling to using the dremel to cut them.  They won't be visible, so it doesn't matter much.   Going to be moving on to painting when I get the chance, hopefully I can start tomorrow.

I gave up on cutting the center right. I made the mistake of using the Raptor X as the hole template for the brackets, so they don't line up on the other drives.

    My awesome sharpie drawings.

looks good! i wonder what kind of moment those mounting holes can support...it would be interesting to only mount them on the outside so that they just look like they are floating from the inside. or have you outsmarted me and simply put a bottom support on the inside to avoid the mess?

    i like, though

I'm bringing it back from the dead. I took a week and a half break from it and started doing some more work on getting the fan cage to properly mount while being in front of the new hard drive mounts. It took me 3 different pairs of aviation snips to successfully cut the metal (just goes to show that cheap ones suck). I am going to repaint everything including the stripe except maybe the DVD drive that one was a PITA to get right with the curves on it. I still have the paint the front black to get rid of those logos though.  I should have this done when I get some time off from school during Easter. Here are some teaser pics, enjoy:

That space in between is a separate part and will be painted soon enough.

I made a big mistake ordering the 3 ft cables. Even 2 ft ones would have been overkill.

I'd love to make my hard drives side mounted. I don't understand why antec didn't do this on the 902 (my case).

Looks soooo much cleaner and easier to remove them.

It is you.  There is a top 240mm fan that expels air. The fan on the cooler pulls air through it, and I have it set up to push the air out of the top. I do get why you said that though, but I get cooler temps from doing it this way rather than have it mounted the way you are thinking.
