So I just received my EVGA 1080ti sc2 and I feel like it runs too loud, not sure if its as intended or if I have receive a faulty card.
When running a game like the witcher 3 on ultra settings at 1440p with the card running at 100% power usage with the default fan speed curve, the fans spin at around 2200 rpm to keep the card at 72 degrees Celsius, which is definitely loud with my gpu sitting in a closed case under my desk.
Using the EVGA PrecisionX software and changing the fan speed curve preset to quiet the gpu drops to a quieter 1850rpm(But still loud) but the temps hit 80 degrees Celsius.
The card sits in a well ventilated corsair 230t case, so I don't think thats the issue.
I would really appreciate if someone can pull up some numbers or something like that to see if the card is working as intended or not.
Cheers.

Did a bit of digging around and it seems that witcher 3 is the problem not the card.
Someone else was also having some issues with their gpu while playing the witcher 3 on this forum and someone suggested that they reinstall the game, which I did and now my sc2 seems to settle around 1700rpm 68 degrees Celsius on default fan curve and and 1550rpm 72 degrees Celsius on the quiet preset.
Does have a bit of coil whine but nothing major, just glad its not my card at fault.

Noise and loudness of things like graphics cards are very subjective things. One person might think their card is quiet where someone will claim it is loud.

My own GTX 1080 Ti SC2, which I now use with a G-SYNC monitor (so framerates are way in excess of 60 fps and GPU generally at 99%), means my card is generally running at around 77 C at the moment with the higher ambient temperatures of the British summer but it doesn't seem at all loud to me. I am using the default fan profile and even have the card overclocked further on the core (+75 MHz) and VRAM (+500 MHz) with a 120% power target. But then my case is on the floor on cushioned anti-vibration feet on a soft carpet so that helps dampen the noise. Of course, I can hear the whooshing of the fans if I bend down and put my ear to the case but from my normal gaming position and even just a few feet away I cannot hear the card at all even when the room is quiet (with the sound muted in games). I'm sure someone else would claim otherwise though!

Intel Core i7-4770K @ 4.0 GHz, ASUS Z87-DELUXE motherboard v2103, 16 GB Corsair Vengeance LP 1,600 MHz memory, 11 GB EVGA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti SC2 graphics, Creative SB Sound Blaster Z sound, 1 TB Samsung 850 EVO SSD + 9 TB SATAIII hard drives, XFX Pro Black Edition 850 W, Windows 10 Pro v1703 64-bit

Does this occur with other games?

AMD Ryzen 9 7950X,  Corsair Mp700 Pro M.2, 64GB Corsair Dominator Titanium DDR5  X670E Steel Legend, MSI RTX 4090 Associate Code: H5U80QBH6BH0AXF. I am NOT an employee of EVGA

Make sure to have the Power fans spinning adequately. I was hitting +80 Deg constantly when Those were on the default less aggressive curve. In theory having them spin separate sounds nice but I found it affecting adequate airflow out making the GPU fan work harder than necessary.
