Hey guys, can you please offer a white backplate for the 1080 Ti FTW3 as an accessory? The white shroud of my new FTW3 Elite is really nice. A white shroud would make my white build perfect! After all, you already gave the people that purchased an FTW3 Elite black version a matching backplate, right?! Thanks...

This was asked in one of the EVGA podcasts. It seems the FTW3 is a bit more complex than a 1080 standard card because it has many pieces, screws attaching some pieces to others, leds in the backplate that needs cables, etc ... EVGA can't release a backplate kit if they think that most people will have trouble changing it.

Yes, I agree, there are more than a few pieces to the FTW3’s backplate: - Backplate in 2 parts:
- Left side
- Right side with the LED component
- 22 screws and 1 nut
On the right side: - 3 thermal pads (4 if you count the one under the LED cable header, but it doesn’t remove with the backplate, so shouldn’t be a worry)
- LED component consisting of:
- Cable
- White plastic face plate
- LED’s
- thin foam for a backing
Left side: That does seem rather excessive and I agree that they may be reluctant to release a kit for owners to change out themselves. It’s certainly understandable for a company like EVGA who is concerned about having their products work and work well over time. However, after watching a few videos on the FTW3, it just doesn’t seem that difficult. Watch the GamersNexus teardown video of the FTW3 ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uBjTi0uj64E&t=191s) for a good example. Lest we forget, they did send out the thermal pad mod kit for owners to add thermal pads to their 1070/1080's. Owners had to disassemble the card to gain access to the GPU as well as under the backplate, disconnect 2 LED headers, clean the TIM from the cooler and GPU, reapply TIM to the GPU, apply 2 thermal pads, reassemble, etc. I know the 1070/1080 backplates are not as complicated as the FTW 3's, but most of the complication comes from messing with the thermal pads--some come off with the backplate while others stay on the board. 22 screws is really no big deal (other than time). Maybe you'd have to pay attention to how that nut assembled to the board with one of the screws... not a biggie... LED cable? Unplug the old one, plug in the new one (shrug). TL;DR Just give me a white backplate, in 2 parts with the right side having the LED component and I'll take care of it.

Paul from Paul’s Hardware previewed some of the new stuff EVGA is showing at Computex this year in a video just published. Starting at approximately 10:50, he shows a table with 7 different colored shrouds on it in the foreground. Also shown are other different colored objects on the table that I could not identify. From the brief and limited view, it didn’t look like he showed the entire table and he didn’t really elaborate on much of it except to say, “If you’re doing a themed build with a different colored theme in mind, EVGA’s got you covered.” I admit, this did seem like he was targeting the shrouds, but again, there were other different colored objects on the table, which leads me to ask if colored backplates are part of this new addition. Again, I hope so as I am looking for an FTW3 backplate in white. Here’s the video (check it out at about 10:50):

There are several small companies that also make custom backplates and perhaps they can also respond to this challenge provided they have all the measurements.

Yes, I've been in contact with someone @ ColdZero. They already have EVGA GTX 1080 Ti SC backplates and I was informed that FTW3 backplates would be forthcoming shortly. Quick replies to my queries by email; they seem to have good customer support. Only problem with an FTW3 backplate from them is that the LED lighting on the backplate will most likely not be supported. I've never ordered anything from them, so I have no direct knowledge of their product quality. V1Tech seems like they have nice offerings, but for some reason they have not responded to my emails. I've read I am not alone in this experience. They are the only 2 I've looked into. Do you know of any others? Thanks...

The smaller pieces are the accents for the front of the card, on the far left and far right. The fan shroud is separate from the accents

I just don't see that on my FTW3 Elite (white) GPU. Maybe for other cards? Can you show a pic of what you mean? Thanks...
