5930k @ 4.5ghz

Are you saying that your 4K LG monitor won't work with the 2 780 Tis but the Asus does?

Correct. Only the ASUS monitor works. If I try connecting my LG monitor to the video cars when booting up, the monitor (4k) does not detect input.

IS it just during post? because only the monitor connected to the far left input or if only hdmi then hdmi input on card one or top card will show the splash screen?

for sli all monitors should be connected to the top card also

Try using one GPU if they're air cooled.  If they're watercooled, try disabling the 2nd GPU via PCIe switch and remove its power cables.

Test out different connectors and cables.  You might want to go with the DVI connection since I had issues with HDMI when I first got the rig powered up a while back.

With certain cards, some monitors don't work properly. Primary problem lies in DP/HDMI standard. While DVI was like forever in the PC world, DP/HDMI never really reached that level of saturation until very recently. So by that measure its still very young technology.

I know that very well. Until switch to Asus PG279Q recently I could only use DVI without any issues. DP or HDMI never really worked properly at all/longer than 2 weeks and then was back to 'no-input'. First it was 580, 7950 then 970 so it doesn't really matter what generation.

Also quality of the cable maybe at play here. Use only cables supplied by LCD vendor - my 5 years old HP cable wasn't working properly with Asus LCD. It's beyond ridiculous but it shows, that it matters.
