I'm guessing this is due to how the fans are managed by the case, but has anyone been able to get their motherboard to recognize the fans? I have a Asus Sabertooth Z170 if that matters.

the only thing you need to power and control the fans is a single molex connector. now if you want to also control them via EVGA software you'll need to plug in the USB's. there is nothing else that you can do to control these fans and there is no way of attaching them to the motherboard without fan hubs and bypassing the built in controller completely.
