Any chance EVGA could provide a few custom BIOS's for the 1080 cards which have a slightly more aggressive fan curve to avoid throttling? And maybe a BIOS which disables the LED lights? And preferably a BIOS which does both? Reason I am asking is that I really don't like having to run software to adjust this stuff, and EVGA precision seems to be very buggy at the moment...

If you are not overclocking the card, you can create a custom fan curve with PrecisionX instead of PrecisionX OC, and if you want to turn off the LED completely, then you can go to the Geforce Experience > LED Visualizer > and turn off the LEDS. There are no custom BIOS for the cards and there will likely not be for these particular features.

While I appreciate your proposed solutions, I would really prefer to resolve this without having to install any software... Though I get that it's most likely not going to happen, I still think it's worth a try to get EVGA's attention to something about it...

I too refuse to install bloatware to control hardware, so........ I just received a 1080 SC ACX3 and unplugged the lights and removed the back plate before installing. The fan curve I may have a problem with since I'm used to running reference cards with ACX coolers so the more aggressive fan curve of the reference boards do well with the ACX coolers. I've gamed a little with it but have not pushed it yet but so far the indicators are it will runner warmer than a Titan X with ACX2+ cooler, because of the bios's fan curve.

+1 for the RGB permanent shutdown. didn't buy the card for the RGB lights and the light is wasting energy for nothing (as i don't see it). would be nice to be able to shut the Led's via hardware. another option that i think possible with a bit of engineering\programming :EVGA precision have access to write to bios,in other words... the options you picked saved permanently inside the card itself.

No different then installing the Graphic Driver, I would not call it bloat ware if you need the tool to complete your job or needs. ofycz5aflu While I appreciate your proposed solutions, I would really prefer to resolve this without having to install any software... Unplug the LED on the Card if you do not want to see it. You can use NVIDIA Inspector 1.9.7.6 http://www.majorgeeks.com/files/details/nvidia_inspector.html to set the fan.

I don't think that word means what you think it means. Also, it is literally the job of software to control hardware. Without software your hardware would be useless to you. Aside from something like a physical hardware switch, everything you do to control the hardware is through software.

Back in the day, EVGA used to do some custom BIOS for their cards. The problem was too many people bricking their cards through improper flashing or using the wrong BIOS. So, they stopped doing it. For the LED, you can use the led visualizer app that is in every driver install to turn it off. Its located in...C:\NVIDIA\DisplayDriver\368.95\Win10_64\International\LEDVisualizer. The path will differ slightly depending upon your driver version and OS. It will stay until you do a clean install of the driver. For the fan profile, you either need use an app, or live with it as as.

I live in a very literal world. If software uses disk space, memory and/or cpu to run it is BLOATWARE.

You realize that literally every piece of software fits that description, right?

Then the software you are using to post here, meets your definition of bloatware. You're being silly. I get what you're saying, as I prefer as little extra software and services running as possible.

I too, am VERY interested in a custom bios with lights off and fan turned up a bit higher. Ideally the card should stay below 70c under all circumstances.
