I pre-ordered a DG-87 and I'm in the process of planning a build for it. Before choosing a mobo, I'd like to compile a list of all of the connections I will need to make full use of the exterior ports on the DG-87. I believe the full list includes: -2x usb 2.0 -2x usb 3.0 -1x usb 3.1c -1x HDMI -1x headphone jack -1x microphone jack
Most of these connections are pretty straight forward and come standard on newer motherboards. The only one I'm not completely familiar with is the HDMI out. Is that something that would require a mobo/cpu with on-board graphics? (like a skylake i7-6700k for example) Or is there a way to connect the port to a video card?
Did I include everything? Is there anything else I should be aware of before I begin purchasing components?

Some if not most of the newer video boards have a HDMI connector on the back for using a VR headset. I think you would need a HDMI cable to connect the video board HDMI output to the port on the case. Hope this helps. I'll post a pic if I can find one. http://www.evga.com/artic...gtx-980-ti-vr-edition/

After poking around after I wrote my first reply I am not seeing this HDMI port on the new EVGA GTX-1080 or GTX-1070 boards. I thought it would be a standard feature but it is looking more and more like a special feature only on boards listed as VR ready.

I think Jacob said that there was an external adapter. To link the port from the back of the case.

I think at some point someone posted radiator size compatibility figures, but I can't seem to find them now. Does anyone know where I can find those numbers?
Thanks in advance!

I believe there's a break between the fans in the back? So unless you removed that you can't do a 280. Correct me if I'm wrong.

You are correct, its: -420mm radiator in the front -420mm radiator on top -2 separate 140mm radiators in the back

Thanks for the heads-up on radiator capacity. Another thing I've been considering buying is a little stand for the case. I work on a glass desk, and my case will sit on the floor. I kinda-sorta accidentally found these little glass tables on Amazon and thought it might be a good idea to buy one to put my case on top of. It seems like it would be good for air-flow and aesthetics. They're only $10-$20. Any thoughts? The dimensions on EVGA's product page list the DG-87 dimensions as: L 686 = 25.4'' W 270 = 10.6'' H 642 = 25.27''

have they said anywhere what the maximum clearances are on the front and top? (room for push pull with 25mm fans on either side??? assuming a 40mm rad. room for thicker rads?

ya, that's the one from the picture. According to the dimensions I have, it's just an inch or so too small though. https://amzn.com/B00YZEJB1G
this model seems to be a more appropriate size. Unfortunately, it's also $30 more expensive

You can always do like i did, and find some TV stand or small desk on craigslist or something. If you look at the preorder thread page 12 shows mine.. It will fit perfectly on top.

I like what EVGA show for this year. Their new hardware, ACX 3.0 FTW/Classified and HydroCopper/Hybrid cards look very nice inside DG-8 case. Special with EVGA CPU Cooler, together look fantastic, not matter is it ACX 3.0 or Hybrid. Maybe they need to launch this case and earlier. Many time people here ask for perfect case for EVGA hardware and watercooling. Perfect gaming case, but could serve as WS case, for WS motherboards with Dual socket for Intel Xeons E5 Family.

Yes they have very attractive graphic cards with air cooling, ACX 3.0. Innovative, cyber but not kitsch as usually we can see worldwide. Hybrid is much improved compare to last year, I mean nicer than previous version, even nicer than free revision from aluminum... HydroCopper look great so far, Classified as usually with EVGA Power Link is amazing. You will see much cleaner interior and perfect cable management with two EVGA 1080 Classified and Power Links. VGA Power cable will be completely hidden, only graphic card will be visible with EVGA Logo. I expect nice performance and from EVGA CPU Cooler, he will improve a lot interior of people who have ACX 3.0 cards example, FTW, Classified, ACX 3.0 SC. Than new small PSU 1000 GX, perfect for smaller rigs and people who use SLI in small RIGs or Radeon dual graphicn cards in small RIGs. And new GTX1070 SC ACX 3.0 will be one of most wanted cards on market. Example i7-6850K - EVGA X99 Micro 2 - GTX1070 SC ACX 3.0 SLI and 1000 GX could fit in small Phanteks EVOLV. If someone want more GPU power could use full GTX1080 SLI.

It's a nice looking well thoguht out PC case that's for sure. I am waiting for some of you guys to report how well the final product and quality actually is from EVGA such as any scratches, nicks or dents no matter how small. How well is it going to be packaged to prevent any damage during shipping?

I will try to do an in-depth review once i get it.. Hoping its very sturdy, and not easily scratched. Thought you were going to go with the InWin case ?

I'm actually quite happy with my Stryker case. I will be needing another case for a new build I am piecing together soon. I thought this DG-8 series would make a nice choice. The price is still fairly competitive even though this Z77 2600k PC will only serve backup duty and spend most of its life on the floor out of sight. Corsair makes some nice looking cases that are tailored for watercooling but the material is too flimsy and I don't want flimsy side panels. I have a cheapo Corsair SPEC-01 case and the sides are so flimsy that if I need to take one off, the only way to get it back on right is to lay it down on its side and use my elbows to get it to catch the holes and sit right. It was only $44 but I see many complaints about how flimsy some of Corsair's hgiher end cases are too.
