Installed my new 850 G2. The PCIe cables are either single 6 pin or dual 8 pin + 6+2. I want to run three graphics cards, all of which are dual 6 pin. So I need six 6-pin connections. The 8 pin don't seem to fit 6-pin connectors as others I've seen will do.

What's the best option for running 3 video cards? I feel like I'm missing something obvious, especially since EVGA makes cards with dual 6-pin connections. Do I get some 8-pin to 6-pin adapters? I would buy some dual 6-pin cables from EVGA but don't see any on the site.

Yep. 8 pin to 6 pin will work out for you. I think my card even came with an 8 to 2x6. Get a couple of those if you don't have enough cables.

    CPU - i7 950 @ 4.2GHz 1.375v
    MB - MSI Big Bang X-Power X58

    Hello,

I can confirm that the 850 G2 has enough connectors to run 3 dual 6pin graphics cards. It has 4 6+2 and 2 6pin connections. Please make sure when attempting to connect the power that you are using the VGA connections and not the CPU.

I'm either hard of seeing or an idiot. It's exactly as you stated: two dual cables that are 6-pin and 6+2, and then two single cables that are 6+2. I have no idea how I got this wrong with ~50 PC builds under my belt. Thanks for the clarification and apologies for wasting your time. Maybe better to delete this thread, and helps my ego if this question disappears.

And I was asking myself "why would EVGA do this - they have to know better." Apologies.

It's not a waste of time if you found the answer.
