I am currently running a 650i ultra with a E4400 and looking to upgrade it to a q6600 just for a cheap upgrade (computer is hardly used)
Do i need to do anything for the board to accept the q6600? or would it just be a straight switch?

Shouldn't be any problems, just swap it out (edit: after clearing CMOS)..Go to the CPU Support page and scroll down to Legacy Motherboard CPU Support where you'll find that a Q6600 is supported..I would however update to the latest motherboard BIOS if one is available for your particular 650i Ultra before changing the CPU.
