I built a new system a week or so ago with an i7 6700k. I temporarily put on the standard Intel 115x fan assembly (it was freebie). It did surprisingly well, but my temps with about hi CPU loads were higher than I'd like and teetered on redline.
I got the Intel BXTS15A cooler (for cheap). But it is a much taller unit with a 0.600A higher speed fan. It worked surprisingly well. With a little fan tuning, I could OC 7% and run a CPU burner and easily keep the CPU under 65 degrees and dead silent under normal computing loads. But it is cool this time of year and my old Cosmos 1000 case has plenty of ventilation, so an air cooling solution is pretty easy for me. You might want liquid for hard core overclocking of course. But this cooler is a viable option for skylake.
