For starters, I did not take pictures of this headset when I received it. I opened it, tried them out, boxed them up and returned them almost immediately. If you want the TLDR of this headset, make sure to read that first sentence very close.. They went back within 24 hours. This is a very honest review, so be aware of that ahead of time.
So, I purchased these brand new from amazon and received them the next day. I will always give amazon props for fast shipping, especially when it is free because I am a prime member, but we aren't here to review amazon shipping habits.
So, when I received them, I was replacing my Roccat Rave 5.1 headset that uses 4 separate 3.5mm jacks wth a USB 2.0 cable for power. The GSkill headset only uses USB for connection, and has an inline control for the channels.
Upon connecting them, I made sure to remove the onboard audio drivers, and install the software for the GSkill headset. I waited to start any games ust to see how the install would go with the software. It was obviously very straight forward.
Once I had the drivers installed, I went ahead and hopped into CSGO since my Roccat headset performed very well in CSGO. First thing I noticed was the absolutely atrocious echo from every single little sound that was made whether it be music or gun shot or even the knife sounds when switching weapons. I decided that maybe the audio driver wasn't working properly, so I went ahead and closed the game and reinstalled the drivers.. nothing, it was just as horrible as before. Figuring it was something else, I removed the GSKill software and installed the onboard audio drivers, reinsalled the Roccats, and played the game.. not a single echo or odd noise to be found.
Once again, I tried out the GSkill headset, and it's drivers, and even a different port on the motherboard just in case. Same issues. I even tried it in BF4, and had the same terrible audio quality.
I started looking through the reviews, and of course, only found those from YouTube reviewers saying the headset wasn't the worst, but it wasn't the best. That was a lie, these were BY FAR the worst headset I had ever owned. I would NOT suggest anyone purchase these headsets.
So, packaging review, the packaging was actually fairly decent although confusing when trying to put it back in the box, I have to admit it held everything in place just fine.
Audio quality, that is covered above.
Fit: they ear cups sat on top of my ears, and the head band didn't even touch the top of my head.
Looks... they absolutely look ridiculous honestly. I would go as far as saying they look like MegaMind was the inspiration for this headset.
Microphone, everyone said it worked just fine. I guess that was it's redeeming quality.
So, again, I would not suggest this headset. I returned them right away.
