Upgraded to x99 classified motherboard with i7 5820k and one stick of ddr4 memory from g skill. It is 1 ddr4 3200 16gb stick. I am also running an evga gtx 970 graphics card. Put it all together and it won't boot. It gives the following codes within 2 to 3 seconds then turns off and reboots over and over. Codes are c, 9, 19, 60 ff and then it turns off. Any ideas on what it could be?

Try re-seating the CPU? 24 pin and 1 x 8 pin power plugged in? Make sure that one stick of ram is in dimm slot 1. Reset CMOS?

List of error codes is reminiscent of some guy who put CPU rotated by 180 degrees. Also try slower DIMMs. 3200 MHz is way outside boundaries of Intel certification - 2133. A lot of X99 boards has serious problems with anything above 2666 - doesn't matter one stick or four or eight. Most funny thing is FFh error code. Congratulations - achieved error code that even AMI never actually defined (reserved for future errors). ;) Seriously tho list of errors before FF indicates problems with CPU initialization. It wants to do something but it can't.

I checked the cpu and it was seated correctly. The triangle on the cpu is facing top right where there is another triangle on the motherboard. I wasn't sure if that was correct at first because that puts the cpu facing down but that is correct.
Like you said maybe memory. But what about sata cables? I left in the old sata cables and they are not sata 6gb. Could that the the problem?

I would make sure to update to the latest BIOS and go from there..The board may have shipped with an older BIOS, as is not uncommon..BIOS version R118 says "Adds support for 16GB memory modules" which sounds interesting..You can read what the other BIOS versions up to R120 do..You would need to put in another stick of RAM just to get it going to the point where you can update the BIOS, maybe buy an inexpensive 2GB or 4GB stick just for that purpose..You could also see if it boots without the graphics card. Just a few thoughts here..Good luck.

Tried booting without the graphics card and that was a no go. I might have to try buying a 2gb 1600 memory stick. If it's not the sata cables. I will check when I get home.

You need a Graphics Card to Post to Bios.

I will fill out the template when I get home but I'm starting to think it might be the memory. I looked at it again on Newegg and it says it's for z170 platform. Also, I was thinking the 3200 might be to much but I was hoping it would work at the standard 2133 until I updated the bios. I need to do a search for compatible memory. The memory model number is F4-3200C16S-16GVK

bcavnaugh You need a Graphics Card to Post to Bios.
Some boards do, some don't, depends..Unless it can be confirmed, that board might pass POST (after complaining) and boot right into Windows without a graphics card installed like my board does, no problemo, even when set manually to use PCIE graphics..When unsure, it's undoubtedly worth trying. Aggie, I would grab a cheap stick of RAM that will work (assuming that's the problem) and update the BIOS if it's needed..What might be incompatible before a BIOS update (if needed) might become compatible after a BIOS update..Not every RAM made is tested/confirmed to work by the manufacturers..RAM can work and not be on the QVL, happens all the time..Making sure you have the latest BIOS is a good place to start.

Ok, I have 2 options. Register the board and they will send me a flashed bios chip and hope the memory works then. I need to know what is the highest speed this board can handle with the latest bios update. Think I read somewhere that it's 3000 so what I bought (3200) might be to much for this board.
Other option is to do an exchange with Newegg for compatible memory.

mmm I forgot the classy actually has an easy remove bios chip So ya I suppose you could ask evga customer support for a preflashed chip well here is a copy pasted list compatible g.Skill memory. last column is the minimum required bios version to use that module. RMAing your ram to newegg may be a bit extreme but it would reduce your over all costs until ddr4 becomes wallet friendly G.SKILLF4-2133C15Q-16GRR4G2133MHz15-15-15-361.2V1~8 1.09G.SKILLF4-2133C15Q-16GRR4G2133MHz15-15-15-361.2V1+3+5+7 1.09G.SKILLF4-2133C15Q-32GRR8G2133MHz15-15-15-361.2V1~8 1.09G.SKILLF4-2133C15Q-32GRR8G2133MHz15-15-15-361.2V1+3+5+7 1.09G.SKILLF4-2400C15Q-16GRR4G2400MHz15-15-15-351.2V1~8 1.09G.SKILLF4-2400C15Q-16GRR4G2400MHz15-15-15-351.2V1+3+5+7 1.09G.SKILLF4-2400C15Q-32GRR8G2400MHz15-15-15-351.2V1~8 1.09G.SKILLF4-2400C15Q-32GRR8G2400MHz15-15-15-351.2V1+3+5+7 1.09G.SKILLF4-2400C15Q-64GRK16G2400MHz15-15-15-351.2V1+3+5+7 1.18G.SKILLF4-2666C15Q-16GRR4G2666MHz15-15-15-351.2V1~8 1.11G.SKILLF4-2666C15Q-16GRR4G2666MHz15-15-15-351.2V1+3+5+7 1.11G.SKILLF4-2666C15Q-32GRR8G2666MHz15-15-15-351.2V1~8 1.11G.SKILLF4-2666C15Q-32GRR8G2666MHz15-15-15-351.2V1+3+5+7 1.11G.SKILLF4-2800C16Q-16GRR4G2800MHz16-16-16-361.2V1~8 1.13G.SKILLF4-2800C16Q-16GRR4G2800MHz16-16-16-361.2V1+3+5+7 1.13G.SKILLF4-2800C15Q2-128GRK16G2800MHz15-15-15-351.35V1+3+5+7 1.18G.SKILLF4-2800C15Q2-128GRK16G2800MHz15-15-15-351.35V1-8 1.18G.SKILLF4-3000C15Q-16GRR4G3000MHz15-15-15-351.35V1+3+5+7 1.13G.SKILLF4-3200C16Q-16GRKD4G3200MHz16-16-16-361.35V1+3+5+7 1.13G.SKILLF4-3200C16Q-16GRKD4G3200MHz16-16-16-361.35V1~8 1.14G.SKILLF4-3200C16Q-16GRKD4G3200MHz16-16-16-361.35V1+3+5+7 1.14 EDIT: I have bolded the Bios requirement of each sku

If it were me I would simply get the RAM that is known to work. The BIOS chip route is basically guessing whether it will work with your current sticks (I'm not sure what your current RAM is) and if it doesn't you'll still have to get new RAM. I -think- the official limit of RAM speed on the board is 2666mhz. FWIW, I am using Corsair RAM rated at 2800mhz and I am running it at 2800 w/ the xmp profile. So anything above 2666 would be considered overclocking.

One little correction here. Actually it's anything over 2133MHz memory speed which is considered overclocking per Intel spec sheets for Haswell-E processors. Take note of the memory specs listed here >> http://ark.intel.com/products/82932/Intel-Core-i7-5820K-Processor-15M-Cache-up-to-3_60-GHz

Don't you have a triple BIOs? Can't you change the BIOs switch to the 2nd or 3rd position as see what happens?

I think the 2 biggest unknowns right now are what BIOS revision do you have and also what exact model of memory. Once you fill out the form as BCav suggested that will shed a lot of light on this.

Use the BIOS selector on your classified to try to switch to alternate. however this also sounds like you may have accidently connected a fan into what you thought was a header. See this post: http://forums.evga.com/FindPost/2441658

Thanks to all who have contributed so far. Lots of good suggestions.
Cwarren77, not sure what you mean by accidentally connecting a fan to a reader but the link you provided has some really good info. If I read it correctly someone asked if he had connected a fan to some port by the memory but he never answered and they never said what the outcome of that was. I did see where he has the same problem as me and had similar memory starting like me (16gb sticks) and changed them out to a cheap stick at rated specs and he got to boot to bios. Then changed the settings and the first 16gb sticks worked out for him. Hopefully that is the case with mine. I ordered new memory that is on the evga approved list and should get here tomorrow so I will know by then.
I did try all bios switch settings and none of them boot. They are all probably flashed with the same bios version. As far as what version that is, I don't know because I can't get it to boot.

Yeah, if you haven't changed the BIOS's, switching them won't matter unless the chosen one if corrupt for some reason. For 16 GB sticks, you'll need the newer BIOS versions.

She's alive boys. It was the memory. I put in the new recommended memory all 4 sticks 4x8 and at first it did not boot and did the same thing so it scared the crap out of me. Then I just put in one stick and vuala it worked. Now I have to update the bios and get the other 3 sticks in there.

I updated the drivers and then the bios. Had some trouble with the bios but I figured it out. The memory should not have been a problem. I remember reading that I had to populate dims 1,3,5,7 so I started from left to right. What I thought I had set up 1,3,5,7 was actually 1,3,6,8. I put the dims how they should go and then changed to xmp profile 1 and it read the correct memory 2400 instead of 2133. I don't understand why they wouldn't build these motherboards using common sense like having the dims go from 1 to 8 left to right. No, they want to put them 1 to 4 left to right and 5 to 8 right to left. Also putting in the CPU upside down. What's up with that.
Anyway some quick questions. Is it normal to get a 38 multiplier? That is what mine is set up. I thought I read it was 32 and could go as high as 36 with turbo boost.
I have a corsair 900D and it comes with 2 or 3 USB connections for the cases USB ports. I only see one USB port 2 on the motherboard. Can I connect a 2.0 to a 3.0? Seems like 3.0 has more pins.
That's all for now.

That's how quad channel works. Shouldn't be a big issue. Your multiplier will only be based on the chip you have at hand. I have the same case and MB. Since we're both stuck with one USB 2.0 internal MB header, I went and purchased a NZXT USB 2.0 extender which is being used as we speak and works flawlessly for all devices connected, including the case USB.
