Hey everybody, I recently finished building my x99 classified set up and when I went to run a game i noticed that the microphone on my headset was not being picked up when I had the headset on the headphone jack (dark green). I tried reinstalling the driver but that didnt help as well. When i put the headset into the pink microphone jack it will pick up something that is barely audible. Does anybody know what is wrong and what i can do to make my microphone work? I can get audio just no microphone.

Did you install the Creative Core3D software?

Thank you for the quick reply. If that software is not the audio driver for the motherboard then no i have not. I will check the EVGA Downloads section for this board.

or look on your CD. I use a sound card, so I don't need it. I did see it on the CD. Also go ahead, and check the downloads section just in case there's a newer driver. Let us know how it goes. =)

So i found the sound blaster recon3di on my pc. Is that what you are talking about? I dont have a DVD reader on this setup so i copied all the files from the cd to a usb and installed everything through that.

Yes, I believe that's it. Also, check your Windows sound settings to make sure the mic is not disabled, or turned all the way down.

So i used this same headset on my laptop and it picks it up as a recording device.
On the x99 when i go to recording devices all i see is WHAT U HEAR and Line In (which is showing up as the pink jack) and under playback devices i see speakers (which is default) and SPDIF out. On the laptop the headset registers as Mic in at front panel.

Yeah my mic isnt even showing up as a recording device or anything unless i plug it into the pink jack :( when i use the "headphone" dark green jack it just works as a headset and forces What You Hear as the default with no other options. Im pretty new to building a pc and dealing with this kind of software so im sorry if im a bit of a noob. Do you think i should call EVGA?

Just to clarify as well my headset does not show up as a recording or playback device. When its in use it is using the speakers option in playback devices.

So i just spoke to their technicians and all i can say is WOW im amazed. Ive never been helped so efficiently by any other company. The tech i spoke too double checked with someone who specialized in audio to confirm that the only 3.5 mm jack that supports input is the pink microphone jack. I will need to either purchase a splitter or upgrade my headset to a USB one (which i was planning on doing anyways). Thanks a tonne for your help as well. EVGA never ceases to amaze.

I think we determined that you're using the Turtle Beach XO Four. That's only compatible with the Xbone, since it uses the same kind of four-conductor 3.5mm plug like you see on a phone where the headset and mic are combined on the same plug. In order to use it with a PC, you'll need a splitter that breaks the single four-conductor plug into two three-conductor plugs. You can use one like this from Amazon. The green plug connects to the green headphone jack, and the other to the pink mic jack. It'll be less expensive than buying a whole new USB headset.
