Everybody, I had a EVGA GTX 970 REF with a stock clock of 1050. I did a "Step Up" to a GTX 970 FTW+ (Fastest stock clock speed of the series 1215) and that has caused me to loose 5000+ points in futureMark, thats right 5000. I just scored my 3rd straight 15000 point Skydiver test and with my REF overclocked 5 days ago (before I mailed back to EVGA) I was getting 21000+. How can that be??? Now having said all of that. Iam having to run the "old version" of PrecisionX 16 because I cant see it???? Thats right, can't see it. EVGA says its a common problem but I'm baffeled with loosing all these points after a card upgrade, I have to have a F#$%*d up driver or this Precision problem. I spend thousands of dollars to build rigs that sit at the top of the heap. Can anyone help me understand this???? I have my 2nd 970 FTW+ that will be here Tues. But I have to get this card ATLEAST scoring what the slower card could and did score. I'm lost and I need help bad, I have given EVGA $800.00 + minimum, in video cards alone in the last month, and I need some support, Oh yeah, my CPU is jacked up to 4.5 but that was the same scenerio with my previous card the REF. I run my I5 4690 @ 4.5 Stable too, what a great chip this has been!!!! And to think I was so excited to see how many more points I get with this new card, UGH I'm disapointed!!! I meen I have done so much reading about these speeds and core clocks speeds and this FTW+ should have bumped my score up 500-700, not cut it 5000 - 6000.  I'm thinking it has to be that old version of PrecisionX 16, has to be!!! Let me know what to do

First and foremost valguarities are against the forums Terms of Service that you agreed too.. To include abbreviations of vulgarities.

This can be found here: http://forums.evga.com/m/tm.aspx?m=4682&fp=1

"Profanity is not permitted in pictures or posts on the forums and will earn a warning if posted.

Moreover, using acronyms or censoring the word by use of characters to mask profanity or other inappropriate language will not be tolerated. "

    Now, onto your questions.

Why are you running skydiver? It's meant for baseline, low-end computers. That score is irrelevant. Run something like Firestrike or Firestone extreme.

Instead of posting random numbers, provide links to the actual runs, so we can see the numbers. You don't say whether it is only graphics score dropping, overall score, physics score, fps or anything.. Just a single number, which can not tell use anything for the bigger picture of what may be occurring.

Your cpu clock is relevant, so good for posting that, and could you include the motherboard you are using please.

Link 3 of the new 970 ftw+ links and 3 of the original 970's

Please, use the enter button to space things out for easier reading as well. This will make answering in order easier rather than trying to figure out where we left off in the middle of one giant paragraph.

I'm very slow and just learning so please bear with me, and please allow me to apologize, I didn't mean to offend anyone, I was just frustrated. I will get the links to some of my previous scores, and then as you stated, run the higher end test, firstrike and I will do that also and post everything I get from that. I will also list the rest of my rig info.

I'll assume that it's PrecisionX v5.3.9 that gives you (me, and some others) a problem showing up when the Start Minimized option is selected..If so, uninstall it through Control Panel, then delete the Program Files (x86)\EVGA\PrecisionX 16 folder..Then install the hotfix version 5.3.9.1 which will probably work okay..That's all I have..Good luck.

    Sounds great.

This is from the skydiver page here: Sky Diver is the ideal test for benchmarking systems with mainstream DirectX 11 graphics cards, mobile GPUs, and integrated graphics.

Integrated graphics... Lol. You are way beyond those. It is meant for laptops mainly.

Firestrike regular is a 1080p test, firestrike extreme is a 1440p test, and and firestrike ultra is a 4k test. Try firestrike regular and extreme to start to see how it goes. Those will give your GPU a better push and force it to utilize more gpu resources than skydiver will.

You may have issues posting links. When you post them, put parentheses around the periods. Www(.) evga(.) com.

This is a spam control feature on the forums and it will erase your links for the first 50 posts.. It does that for really good reasons.

Ok, I think I have it. Before we begin another discussion about my scores and their crazy differenceses. My main problem all day has been not being able to see it. The guy ^ there Bob knew what I was talking about and as these forums continue to prove so, so useful!!! I have now been able to download my GPU software, now allow me to run the Firstrike a few times and I will post the links. So we see what my REF EVGA scored a week ago, and what my FTW+ scores now

Between just us, I think I might have made myself look like an idiot!!!  That first post of mine rambling on and on and on about 4 diffrent topics. Sorry you guys, I was frustrated with my GPU software, have to have it!!!

Be back with some postable results in little while

      <---- 4.5 CPU and GPU @ 1316

<------4.5 CPU and Stock GPU 1215

Both of the above are the new FTW Card - Below will be the older REF clock both with CPU settings at 4.5 and one with stock GPU and other minor OC

        <------- 4.5 and GPU aprox 1200

<--------4.5 CPU and Stock REF 1050

Did I do a better job of keeping it from being all jumbled together???? I though you would be able to interpratate this. Plus, it all stems from me not being able to get my software right, thats why I got the super low score, using a super old driver. As you can see the difference is the dates. I've only had the FTW+ since yesterday. Sent the REF back begining of last week. Let me know what you guys think???

I tried to increase the CPU clock to 1355 and it frooze. I also only increased the voltage by 8 or 12, I think 12

Also on your 970 FTW+, switch your BIOS from the "master" switch to "slave".  The " master" BIOS is just the default BIOS with a non aggressive fan profile.  The "slave" BIOS is the secondary BIOS that has a higher power limit, lets you set the power target higher in PrecisionX, and has a more aggressive fan curve to keep your card cooler (which you should just make your own personal fan curve).

I myself have 2 970 FTW+s in SLI and love them.  These cards run their best on the secondary BIOS for their full power and can OC great.  The BIOS switch is on the back of the card in the corner with the power cables.  On your backplate you should see it say "master" and "slave"; and you want it on slave.

My second card will be here Tues. I have learned, seeing that I have had a REF (Slowest factory speed) and now I have a FTW+ (Fastest factory clock speed) I was able to OC both of them, and both of them maxed out at just over 1300 I got mine stable now at 1315, thats just one though, like I said my second one is Tues.

REF Scores below Stock and OCd

    GPU Clk 1300 + or - () CPU @ 4.5

    GPU Stock 1050 () CPU @ 4.5

    FTW+ CPU 1315 () CPU @ 4.5

    FTW+ STK 1216 () CPU 4.5

Man I hope everyone can see that. It took some work to post that. I'm exahausted!!!! LOL

Bottom line for me - The EVGA is a great card but the max clock speed for any of them, from the lowest (REF, I had one and it topped at 1300+) I now have a FTW+ same thing, peaks at 1315. I have not got it to run stable high then that.

Lets hear some opinions - Mine is EVGA makes some great products and I cant wait to get this 2nd card WooooooWoooooo

Use Precision X.  Enable KBoost, and put the power limit slider at maximum and try your benchmark runs again.

I am going to state again, as I did earlier. You do not have enough posts to send links.

Put a bracket around the period (.) so that we can see your links, please. If you keep posting links without it, we will never see what you are accomplishing... Look up, and you will see what I mean.

Www(.)evga(.)com is an example of what I mean. If that is too time consuming, then only post the

Com/wpiukrml portion (that doesn't go anywhere by the way, just an example) and we can out it onto other results and see yours.
