Been thinking about upgrading my systems and I wanted to get some input from fellow builders/gamers here on the forums. In the past you guys have given me great advice so I wanted to get some for my next build! I currently have a ASUS Z77 Sabertooth and I love it. It's never given me any problems and surprisingly the armor has lived up to the hype and imo, worth the extra $. I am a gamer and play MMO's like WoW, SWTOR, FFXIV and some games like WoT and HotS. I've never really done much overclocking besides the factory turbo boost in the BIOS so not too worried about overclocking.

I pretty much have my mind made up on the Z170 Sabertooth but is there any reason(s) I should seriously consider the Maximus VIII Hero? I even thought about doing a mATX build using the Maximus VIII Gene (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813132569) but that might have to wait. I've been reading reviews on a few different sites and one of the reasons I'm leery about going the Maximus route is I've read a lot of negative reviews with their BIOS and buggy boards. Again, I appreciate any feedback and welcome suggestions. Thanks again in advance and I look forward to reading what you have to say! :)

I think you would be better to apply a small overclock to your current system, and keep it a while longer before upgrading, honestly. Your board has a lot of life left in it.

The Sabertooth is going to be a server grade board, so it will be tough for sure.

The Maximus is more geared toward heavy overclockers.

My vote: Sabertooth. The armor looks good, and the boards usually function very well.

If you decide not to stick with the z77, that is my opinion.
