Hello there! I am new to PCs. My brother recently built mine for me. Anyway, I am looking into water cooling to keep the gpu temps down, as I have this sort of OCD-ish feeling about the temperatures. I have the 1080 FTW, by the way.

It idles at about 37-38 Celsius and around 75 when I'm playing Overwatch at 1080p! (I am getting a 1440p monitor this week). So what options are there for water cooling? I have:

Define Nano S case
Corsair H100i v2 cpu cooler

Anything else I should list? I was wondering if there is anything like this () for the FTW, as that cooler isn't compatible. :( Sorry for the total noob question here guys. I feel bad burdening my brother with all my questions, so I figured asking here wouldn't hurt.

Thank you!

well, I come from a crossfire 290 setup that used to go to 94-95 C, then I used the corsair aio setup and it brought the temps down to around 65 degrees on load ( super silent settings) so im quite pleased with 75 C on air cooler with my FTW. Its also pretty silent, doesnt bother me at all.

EVGA will be coming out with a hybrid cooler for the FTW. just wait a bit.

To be perfectly honest your temperatures are excellent and there is no need for water cooling. I know you mentioned you are somewhat OCD about the numbers but I can assure you that you are perfectly fine. The GPU should not even hit a throttling point until 50c and even then these are very minor increments until you reach above 80c. The card is designed to run without any damage at up to 94c.

If you have a moment, please rate my service. We appreciate the feedback!

That sounds perfect! As I am new, I don't want to try custom water cooling just yet. So I will just have to wait for this.

Thanks all for your friendly help.

Those temps are not bad at all for a graphics card.  You are using EVGA's Precision X OC to adjust the fan speed or set a fan profile aren't you?  75C while playing Overwatch is surprising.  I only hit about 60C while playing Overwatch with a fan speed of 50%.  It's not a demanding game at all.  Even while playing The Division I only hit about 70C with a 60% fan profile (a lot more demanding game).

Of course case flows plays a part, and I have pretty good case flow, but I ask because you don't mention fan speeds.  I am very impressed with the ACX fans and they seem to cool great in my case.  I see no need for water cooling, unless I was running two cards (and maybe not even then).

Hello. Yes, I use the EVGA software to control fan speed. I have my curve set to auto, so it is usually around 75% while I'm playing Overwatch, which is now worrying because you get lower temps with slower fan speeds. I think my case is the problem...I have the Nano S from Fractal Design. The power supply is really close to the graphics card...so I guess this is causing the problem. It covers one of the gpu's fan.

It could very well be poor air flow inside your case.  Is it possible to add some fans or try a different configuration?  You might also consider applying new TIM to the card like MX-4 which will typically will drop it a few degrees as well.  Air flow sounds like the issue though.  It's the price you pay for having a small case.
