Hello guys, this is my first post, ive always had nvidia EVGA products, well at least for the last 10 years or so. So its the first time i really need help about it.

I recently got a brand new 980. and when i placed it in the PC i just didnt get the results i wanted. I read many forums adressing an low gpu usage issue and stuff like that. And then i found an official firmware update for the card. Thinking this could be the answer to my predicament i downloaded the bios update and ran it. I followed all the instructions posted here:
It even said it was succesfull. I proceded to restart and now the PC wont boot... no beep nothing, just a black screen, not saying "no signal" just a black screen...

Where did you find an official firmware update for the 980? We rarely make firmware updates available for general download except by request, so unless you found it on our forums here, or were sent it by one of our techs, it may not have been an official firmware. Even if it were, there's always a chance of bricking a card during the flash, which sounds like what may have happened here. If you backed up your original firmware and have a second card you can boot from the second card, then using NVFlash with the proper commands flash your 980 back to the original firmware.

We could RMA the card for you, but if the firmware was a non-EVGA firmware there may be a fee for reflashing the card or it may even potentially void the warranty. You can contact us at 888-881-3842 or email support@evga.com and we can set up an RMA for you if you like.

No problem, that makes a lot more sense! That firmware update should have already been on your card, as any product after November 2014 would ship with the latest firmware. If you can't reflash your original firmware for any reason, we'll need to assist you with an RMA. There will be no issue with warranty, as the firmware was from us.

I managed to reflash to original bios GM204 i think, everything is working just fine now! I want to thank you for your quick support and service. NO RMA will be needed thanks god!

My only question is, if i restore the original bios, is that bios older than the bios the card came with? the 1.1?

Awesome, glad you were able to get it flashed back! The one on the card is either the same, or newer since your card was purchased less than a month ago. It looks like your serial number has an extra digit to it, you might want to double-check it and email us with the corrected serial.

After trying to update the bios of the card without succes i tried to revert to the original bios. I think i need help getting the original bios of the video card, i was checking with GPU Z and it says GPU 13C2 and i think it should say GM204... Is there any way to get the original bios of the video card or should i try to flash the bios using the latest one provided by EVGA?
