Hi guys,

I just got my GTX 960 SC (single-fan ITX model). Installation was relatively straight-forward.

However, now there is a major issue. I just monitored the idle temps, and it is at 42C. Worst of all, the fan is not running! My previous 750 SC would idle at 37C (over a few months due to dust would idle at 39-40C, until I clean out the dust), with 40% fan speed.

Please advise me what to do. Amazon says they will take back the product if it is defective.

Thanks!

himmatsj I'm not sure if you were aware that both the single and dual fan 960s have the ACX 2.0 cooler which does not activate until the card exceeds 60C. I would not be concerned with the idle temp since those do vary. I would pay more attention to the temperature when the graphics card is underload as well as the fans. You can set a custom fan speed/curve by using our Precision X software and or you can test the default settings by stressing the card out with a benchmark such as our OC scanner software or Unigen's Heaven benchmark.

According to the brochure, it appeared as if only the dual-fan models behaved this way.

Assuming I get 42C idle temps (my ambient temp is 28C at night, 35C in the afternoon) on average and 74C absolute max load temps, is this bad for the longevity of the card?

Wow, actually I just ran Performance Benchmark, and my GPU hit 80C! However, the fan speed was only 37%. I'm at a loss here. What do I do?

With my 750 SC, I never tempered anything. I left it at default EVGA settings. I could run at 100% load with max temps of 72C (with the fan level at 59%).

But here, it is hitting 80C after just a minute of being under load.

Is the fan setting here the issue, or is my PC the issue?

I would truly appreciate help from members of the community.

    Thanks!

Those temps are fine. If you want better temps Install precision and add a custom fan profile.
