I just recently built a new i7 system.
I bought an i7 930, and when with the stock cooler i was getting idle temps around 40 degrees. Now I went and bought a new megahelms cooler, and bought some Artic silver 5 and shin-etsu thermal paste. With the Artic Silver 5, I applied a small line of it, I really didn't a decrease in temps even with the megahelms, it stayed around 40 degrees idle. Now I also cleaned paste off and applied the Shin-etsu thermal paste, this time only a small drop in the center, and my temps actually are running at 50 degrees idle. I have 2 scythe s-flex fans on the megahelms in a push-pull setup, and 3 120mm fans at the top of my case exhausting air out through the top. Am I doing something wrong? Do i7 930's run very hot? Any advice? The case I have is a Corsair 800D.
