It's been a few weeks since my State of the Pimp address, and man, the world has done a flip.

Last Wednesday, first, my brother in law has a non-fatal heart attack. Then, my grandmother is found non-responsive. BiL is fine, they're determining just what needs to be done (if surgery is the fix, or if medication will fix things), but sadly, Grammy left us that night, at 11:30pm.

Flash forward to Friday, and I learn that my uncle on my father's side has joined dad and their other siblings who have passed, leaving only 2 of their siblings with us.

Yeah, you could say that the Pimp is feeling slightly less than stellar. So, what I want from each and every one of you, is to gather your friends and family (blood, adopted, otherwise) and tell them how much they are loved. It's Mother's day, but appreciate EVERYONE you care for today. You never know when they're gonna leave.

Hang in there D.  My heartfelt sympathies on the passings your family has had.  I agree that you should always tell the ones you love during any moment what they mean and that they are loved.  "I love you" is not used enough to those who we truly love.  Remember the happy times and who your uncle and grandmother is to you and was to everyone around you.  This is the legacy we all leave.  Stay strong, the rest of your family need this.  Thoughts are with you.

That's a lot going on Droug. Sorry about your Grandma. I do try and make it a point to let the ones know that they are loved. My Wife and I try to gather Family every few months besides the holidays. We have a nice meal [expertly prepared], then play a game of some sorts. Young and old farts playing together. Usually Pictionary of some sort.

Life is short and while in the military years ago I saw so many young lives sacrificed in defense of the USA/World Peace. As Warren Zevon once said: "Enjoy every sandwich".

Klaas - So far, things with the brother in law are doing well. They appear to be managing things with medication instead of needing surgery, but the bypass option is still on the table. My sister will be updating us soon, I imagine.

Thursday, I take the day off to drive 3 hours to the north to have my Grandmother's funeral, then return to work on Friday, only to go to another funeral on Saturday. Not going to be the most fun weekend at all, but it WILL be good to catch up with the various family members that we haven't been able to see due to distances.

That is the horrible bonus to funerals - often they end up being family reunions as well, and in our family's case, we do often turn it into a celebration of the deceased's life, not only to mourn.
