Well, I have the 970 SC+ ACX 2.0 (model 04G-P4-2977-KR) and in a fit of curiosity, and seeing how most models of the 970 had got a BIOS update, I tried flashing my card to the 04G-P4-2974-KR, which I did by force flashing a 2974 BIOS using NVFlash and then running the official 1.1 update. Thing is, the card doesn't die, but it hangs the system as soon as you load the NVIDIA drivers, only being able to run in "generic drivers" mode. I'm currently running the card on one of the alternate BIOS selectable via the card's triple BIOS feature's switch. Now, I'd like to get my card back to normal, so here's some questions: 1. What's the difference between the BIOS selectable via this switch? The card's documentation doesn't even mention the switch or even the feature at all. 2. Can anyone with this card provide me with a BIOS dump (done with NVFlash) from the card with the switches in their default position, so that I can restore my card back to normal? Thanks in advance!

Quick followup: as I wrote this post I sent the same thing to eVGA support, and while I did get a response from them, they are allegedly "don't have a stock BIOS available to send for that card". Funny, huh? They're the manufacturer but don't have the BIOS. Go figure. So yeah, I have to resort to you fellow people, in hopes that some charitative soul can provide me with a dump. It will be greatly appreciated.

I received you PM and I can help you. But unfortunately, I don't have 10 posts and so, cannot reply to your PM. You can add me on Facebook facebook .com/reedsydel Also let me know how I can give you the BIOS file.

Well, earlier today Tremonade kindly provided me with his BIOS dump, but it seems to be a slightly lower version than the one my card has. His is 84.04.2F.00.70, while mine is 84.04.2F.01.70. Anyone else with this card can get me this file? Thanks in advance!

I can't give you the BIOS you need, but I can provide you with this advice: ALWAYS back up your current BIOS to a file before flashing to a new BIOS version. I sometimes even email the BIOS to myself to ensure that I don't lose it.

Embarrassingly, I did back it up, but in a dumb move, I deleted it before making sure everything was actually working properly. Please send me the BIOS link when you get the time. Thanks in advance!

Never delete the original. Your video card's warranty is void whenever the original BIOS is not on the card. Always save the original for as long as you own the card; in case you will need it.

tHE_uKER, if you send an email to support@evga.com and include your part number and the BIOS revision number off the sticker on the back of your card, and we can put in a request to have the product team to get you the stock BIOS for your card. It will take a few days to set up the request and get it out to you, but it can be done. The stock BIOS should be normal fan operation mode, where the fans run even at idle, while the second BIOS is the 0db mode where the fans only turn on over 60c. Otherwise they are identical. As long as one of them is still unflashed, then your warranty is intact.

Thanks for you reply. I have already made such request with eVGA support, but since it would take a couple of days I figured I would ask here too. The part number I guess wasn't necessary since the card has to be registered to make support inquiries in the first place. They seem to have posted the request without asking what version of the BIOS I had, so I assume (hope) they'll give me the latest one available. Now, seeing you're willing to help, I have a couple of questions I'd like to ask. 1. Out of curiosity, how are BIOS updates handled in multi-BIOS cards? I was told by the support rep that they have voltage/timing variations, so do you provide ROMs for all slots? 2. Also, is there any documentation on the multi-BIOS feature? It seems to be kind of in the dark, barely mentioned in the products' documentation, and leaving us users to guess how it works, and what is contained in each of the provided BIOS images. According to my experience, mine (triple BIOS) works kinda like this: Sw1 Sw2 Off Off Default BIOS Off On Default BIOS On Off Alternate 1 On On Alternate 2 But I have no idea how those two alternates differ from the default one. Thanks again for your time.

I believe our spec page may be incorrect for your card. I'm going to have to check with the Product Team on this one to be sure, but by your description of the switch layout the card actually has a dual BIOS setup, not a triple BIOS setup. Sw1 is a lock to prevent the BIOS from being changed, and sw2 changes between BIOS 1 and 2. A triple BIOS card would have a three position slider on the edge of the card, and switches between stock/OC/LN2 BIOSes, each with increased voltage profiles. There's an article about the multiple BIOSes for the 700 series cards, but the info still pertains to the 900 series cards as well: http://www.evga.com/articles/00767/ Once I have more info about the actual BIOS configuration for the 2977, I'll let you know.

I have confirmation that 04G-P4-2977-KR is a dual BIOS, not a triple BIOS, card.

Well, yeah, my card definitely matches the dual BIOS pictures from the page you linked. That said, according to my experience, which matches the info in your page, switch #2 would be the lock, and switch #1 the actual BIOS switch. Keep me posted if you get access to the BIOS files.

My mistake, you are correct. 1 is the selector and 2 is the lock. I see the request in the system and that they are processing the request so it shouldn't be much longer now.
