Will the 980 slow down a lot if it's not running 16X?

    Ok thanks
I'm really happy with how the 980 runs at 16x but I'm thinking about getting the new Intel 750 ACI SSD.
The 750 needs to me a slot that connects to the CPU and not the PCH to get the best performance.
I have a Asus ROG Maximus VII Hero - with both cards in the red slots that connect to the CPU, the slots will drop to 8X.
Just wonder if it worth it or not.

The x8 slot obviously is not the same as the x16 but I can't tell you off the bat how much worse it would be. But the memory bandwidth to the CPU would be terrible compaired to the x16. But I'm not sure how it would affect the cards performance.
