I never got to play any of the Rainbow games, but I'd like to give this new one a chance, but like Boredgunner said "uplay" !
 
When will game developers learn, build a great game, it sells its self. But, same could be said for gamers that continually support BS game developers with their wallets....

If you want to play one, play Rainbow Six 3 with the Raven Shield 2.0 mod.  No uPlay, and it's 10x the game Siege is... for better or worse is of course your opinion.  There's a leaked video of Siege and it looks the same as the older previews.  I'm pretty sure the only game mode is hostage rescue so it's bound to get repetitive quickly.  
 
Rainbow Six 3 on the other hand has the layout of a strategy game like XCOM: you have forces, you can take control of any soldier, and you have permadeath, although you can have up to 3 teams at once in a mission opposed to just one squad.  You formulate a strategy beforehand, and whether or not you succeed or fail on a mission has global repercussions.  Every soldier also has unique stats and therefore their own strengths and weaknesses, so you use them appropriately.  
 
In short, RB6 3 has a ton of mechanics that won't be in Siege, and it's much more complex and tactical.  However Siege seems to have cool smaller features like the mobile cameras and other gadgets.  Public multiplayer is an obvious no-no in Siege, just look at the leaked video and you'll see why.  People are too stupid and just storm in and shoot up the place, without any planning or teamwork.

I still want to at least try this out because it reminds me of a game I played alot of back in the day called - SWAT
