I got my 980 ACX2.0 as a step up from a 780TI dual classy ACX1.0 Both cards exhibit a noise coming from the GPU fans that is absolutely annoying. And I really hope that evga can come around someday and fix this. In the meantime I'm off to replace the cooler. Of all the GFX cards I have owned, none of them I have had to worry about the fans... Description of the noises: - A vibrating / wining noise at certain RPM levels that is pretty loud - A sound of vibration, almost like the fans are not balanced or like putting a card in the spokes of a bicycle, but much duller, not AS loud as a card in the spokes ;) These noises aren't really an issue once it speeds up and I'm playing a game. But it is infuriating at idle to listen to these noises in a quiet room. Other notes, RMAd the 780 several times(4 I think?), all with the same issue, not even going to bother with the 980 as it is the exact same noises I am hearing.. Hell my CPU fans are quieter than these things. And I think the worst bit is all these noises are fairly high pitched. Yes fans make noise, I get that, but when they make high pitched noises vs just air moving noises, I can hear that a lot more and do not approve.

Can't tell if sarcastic? Also tried it in another PC, handle it carefully and such. I even took a listen at my fiends 770 that we got a year ago with the ACX and it also has this issue. We didn't notice his though since his CPU fans are crazy loud all the time.

Hahaha..
So, at idle, the fans on the 980... That DO NOT MOVE make the same noise..... You may want to start looking somewhere else in your system.

At idle my fans do move. They are powering a 4k display, just watching youtube is enough to heat them up. I adjusted them to be at 0% until 50C

This is the default fan curve in precision. I changed it to 0% til 50 to save me some headache, maybe I will try 60, Thanks!

Can you post a video on YouTube and link it here? Explain the noise and also list out your system. At this point, you are pointing at something that isn't being reported by others. I see your post about setting the fans to work at 50c, but it seems almost as if you don't have your case flow moving enough air, allowing your card to heat fast. You need to focus on the full System. Where does it sit in relation to you? P. S. My apologies for jumping to conclusion. Shut precision down completely and monitor your fans visually. Below 60c they should be at 0rpm. As for your case, case flow and positioning, you need to make sure it is optimized. It seems the problem is somewhere else, since these fans are completely different and you may be sensitive, or just picky, when it comes to what you are hearing.

The noise is about impossible to capture on video, I tried as it was even worse on my 780TI dual classy. The card is in a Corsair Obsidian 250D So it has very minimal airflow going over the card. The whole system: CPU: i5-4690K w/Corsair h100i liquid cooler Ram: 16GB GSkill Ares or something Case: Corsair Obsidian 250D Mobo: ASRock z97E-ITX/ac HDD: Samsung 850 & WD Black 1TB Display: Acer XB280HK 4k 28" 60hz It sits on a table to the left of my monitor, but even on the floor the noises/heat are heard. Ambient temp in the room is usually 72F(22C)

It really is only heard at low RPMs, once the fans start going from the heat they get louder than the off-balance type noise I have been hearing. But I only game casually, so 80% of the time I am just online, chrome, plex, etc. which sometimes is enough to kick it up to 50 for a little bit, make some wining annyoing noises then calm down Link to the other thread: http://forums.evga.com/AC...assified-m2215399.aspx

Like I said above, you need to find a way to optimize airflow. Every time I post you post at the same time. It has always been said that corsair makes great cases, but more than a few people have made posts about the case flow of obsidian series cases. To me, the problem seems to lie in the lack of case flow. If you are going for a fully silent system, consider watercooling.

Will do, I also upped the 0% fan speed to 60C. I will look in to better, or any airflow for a quieter operation. Thanks a ton!
