NOW WITH SLI ;) Hello! I recieved my new card today. (and 2nd on its way) Its the new SSC model with improved heatpipes, higher power target, 6 and 8pin (instead of two 6-pin) and more. ( 04G-P4-3975-KR) And i can say that im really satisfied. My 970 FTW card throttled like hell because of the low power target. This one boost to 1405mhz all the time. No drops whatsoever! Asic is 74.3% and no coil-whine either :) Now the only thing missing is that lovely backplate.. Here is a screenshot of gpu-z Best regards Matthias from Sweden

That's a nice overclock. Did you change the power limit (stock 187w with slider max)

Yeah power limit is max, not shure it was needed but after the bad experience of the two sc cards i set it max before i overclocked it. This is game stable and the screenshot was while playing fc4. Great card, runs cool, and very stable so far.

OK you're running two GTX 970 SSC cards in SLI with no problems. Is that correct? SLI is recognized in the NVIDIA control panel? The reason I ask is because I'm having some problems I am trying to resolve.

@maaakn Lucky indeed! No coil whine at all during moments of 1000+ fps or anything? Sounds good otherwise. *goes to yell at my SSC for only boosting to 1380* :P

Nope :) No coil-whine at all, only a little at menus with very high fps.. =) What ASIC value you card got?

No ninja edit for me lol! I think I got the lowest ASIC possible, 64%, but like I said before I got it for the improved features and cooling. Honestly, the complete silence at idle with fans at 0% and temp at 32C is worth it alone.

Well (low) boost/ASIC is just one side of the coin. How does it overclock?

On stock volt with 110% power target, I got through many passes of valley and heaven with 1513 (+134 core) but crashes here and there with 3dMark and other benches. I don't wish to over volt and without spending to much time on it I'd rather leave it at stock clock since the fps difference really only amounts to what...maybe 1-2 frames (also considering the temp restrictions I have with the move over to SFF gaming).

Well, wanted to use it a while before i posted on noise. It has some whine at above 850 fps. The screenshot above is max stable oc. Does not matter if i change voltage or not. Also my ninja edit was to change my fat fingered scc to ssc. :o) New cherry red board and i were fighting for a bit. I have a step up on my sc card in process so will have sli soon. Not shure i will keep both though, as i only play on 1080p. Also not shure i want the headache and non support of sli to deal with.

I'm not sure I've seen this information posted yet, so could any owners of the new SSC or FTW+ post what type of VRAM they have on their card? On the SSC it will be really easy to tell as the memory chips will either say Samsung or something else like Hynix.

That's good to hear. It's happened in the past that the first run of cards get Samsung and then a few months later (so around now) they transition to lower performing but cheaper memory. That would've sucked if the new cards fixed many of the old ones issues but introduced lower overclocking memory into the equation

I got my new 970 SSC this week and just got around to messing with the clock speed (haven't messed with memory clocks yet). I have a low ASIC too, 65.6% :( makes me sad that I can't overclock it as high as others can (I kind of want to return it just so I can try for a higher ASIC and higher overclock). I upped the stock clocks by +160mhz (1350Mhz base clock and 1502Mhz boost clock) but haven't had a chance to run it through Unigine Valley yet. I got this one for the 6+8 pin power connectors (along with the improved cooling) which I thought would allow for a better/higher overclock but I see that my chip got in the way of that. I was really hoping to get a base clock clock near 1500Mhz like I have seen many others do but oh well, as long as I can average 60fps @ 1440p I'm happy.

I too recently got my new SSC+ and was disappointed with the ASIC score of 67%. Hell my GTX 770 had a ASIC of 89%. Guess I was spoiled by the silicon lottery with that one. Although I don't overclock more than the card came, I'm overall happy with it. Now I see there may be an issue with all GTX 970's and memory allocation. I have noticed that my SSC+ hardly ever goes over 3.5 gig in any usage.

I´ve heard that EK will release waterblocks in EVGA cards early february. That information is picked up on Facebook written by EK-Waterblocks.
