Hello,

Not sure that is an easy one but trying my luck like I did on the ASROCK motherboard forum.

I have own an ASROCK B350 PRO4 motherboard since Aug2017 and I am Speedfan user to control my PC fans as well as monitoring GPU temps and set custom curves and profiles to manage efficient cooling and noise level.

Since Bios 4.4 release on that motherboard, my GPU temp , being for GTX 1080 or now 1080Ti card, is not recognized and showing up anymore.

Anyone here also using Speedfan and this board, or another AM4 one, that would have experienced the same issue and a way to fix it?

Going back to Bios 3.3 fixes the problem but I am losing the improvement I see with recent Bios on my RAM speed (3066Mhz with 3.3, and 3200Mhz with 4.4 bios and onwards)

again, any help much appreciated

Olivier

    No, no, please do not use speedfan for nvidia cards, it uses the old NV i2c bus which isn't supported by nvidia and can cause the same black screens that corsair link/icue does.

    Speedfan and NVIDIA Inspector are slowly dying (not being maintained), which is a shame because small they're small and efficient.

    Try Precision XOC or Afterburner.  If not you'll need to create a bug report on speedfans site with detailed system info and what controllers your board/card has.

    Another thought is to reinstall speedfan and make sure you delete the "C:\Program Files (x86)\SpeedFan" folder before reinstalling.

    thank you.certainly more helpful than the previous above comment.

    yes I had considered reporting on the Almico support homepage but I can also see  very low activity in the last couple of years. Dont want to blame the developer considering how good and efficient, and of course free, was his software.

    will try to reinstall indeed to see if that helps although I am not super optimistic. I also think that the culprit is with what Asrock did with the latest Bios revisions

    my concern with AB or XOC is the Fan radiator control.with this fan plug in the gpu, it runs a bit too noisy for my taste at idle so I have connected to my motherboard but without GPU temp input, its not effective to control its speed.

    No feedback from Almico Blog so I decided to disable Speedfan in my Startup programs and now running Argus Monitor instead that actually sees the GPU temp so I can control now the GPU radiator fan which is a progress both on acoustics and max temps reached on the core (havent seen above 50degC even in very hard gaming sessions)

    Only thing I have noticed, even switching to the OC Bios increasing PL to 127%, it doesnt really overclock better than on the normal Bios.

    2088Mhz core and 12,200Mhz memory set in MSI AB with fixed 1.093V, I dont see any power, thermal or Voltage throttling in AB monitoring but the Core will go down one bin (2075Mhz)at just 45degC and remain there

    I am bit disappointed because my 1080FTW Hybrid could sustain initial core frequency in the same conditions of fixed voltage and no throttling

    Can someone en-light me of what could be happening?

    thanks

    I had a similar issue where updating from SpeedFan 1.51 to 1.52 caused my GPU to stop being recognised. Perhaps try 1.51?

    The first temp bin on Pascal is ~ 42C. That is why you're seeing that drop. I base my clocks on the GPU running between ~45-50C. The 1080 models really have nothing to do with the 1080 Ti other than using Boost 3.0.

    @Heavyhemi
    I am surprised to be honest that the temperature threshold would be so low. granted its not the same GPU die than the one in the 1080 but the architecture is the same
    I would need to do some more research and testing then but thanks for the input

    @silverhawk
    I will give it a try to downgrade to 4.51 but I am not very optimistic to be honest

    Here ya go...this is what I was referring to. Both GPU's use a similar Boost 3.0 temp profile...
