Do some searches on YouTube, like in your case: evga gtx 970 overclock

There are some pretty good tutorials on overclocking there using the EVGA Precision 16 tool. They helped me tremendously.

Here is a good guide on 980. 970 will be similar.

One thing I learned quickly enough though, is not to expect the same OC numbers as you see in the videos. Cards of the same model can still be quite a bit different from one another. As the videos usually mention, it really pays to work with small increments, testing as you go. Usually the folks making the videos have already done this before the video was made so they already know how far things can be pushed. :)

Thanks for the info on that Biz SAR, one more question. What is a good bench program to use or are they multiple to use for video cards?

I'm far from being an expert on the subject. Some folks stand by certain benchmarking programs. Personally, I'm happy with 3DMark's Firestrike benches (regular, extreme, and ultra for 4k). It seems to tax the card enough, it's in Steam, and it's easy to share/show results.

    Anyone else have a favorite?

Ok, cool, now i'm looking at some scores, and I was just wondering how that tells you how good it is running? Is there a standard code for average - beast computers

Firestrike will give you a general comparison versus others once the test is complete separated by categories like tablet, mobile gaming, desktop, etc... To look up scores for certain hardware, try this http://www.3dmark.com/search

First, if you made the last post, the forum won't let you create a new one. You'll have to edit the last one or wait for someone else to post before you can post again. Second, Precision X 16 was causing all sorts of funky things, mainly input lag, on my system, though I've heard of it crashing games too. Google it, you might get an answer for your issue. I didn't and just reverted to an old version.

I read about that in one of the mod descriptions on Skyrim Nexus.  So, I quit using PrecisionX when playing Skyrim and followed along with some of Gopher's recommendations.  Gopher has put together a series of videos that deal with modding Skyrim AND keeping your system stable.  Here's a link to his videos on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL96C073B0B8BFC01D.  I hardly have any crashes now.  One video in particluar that I would recommend you watching if you're having a lot of CTDs is Skyrim Mod Sanctuary 84.  That's an interesting one.  One other that helped me was Skyrim Mod Sanctuary 71.  Give those a look, as well as any of the other videos Gopher has put together.  They're well done and very informative and should be extremely helpful for anybody that likes to mod Skyrim and NOT crash the game.

Skyrim is like Oblivion in that these are not just games, they're projects.  Nothing like the COD series or BF series where you just run and gun.  Nothing against those games, I play them too.  But the Bethesda Softworks games are just a different breed of game.  You have to get into the technical stuff to really play the game and enjoy it.  Those are just my thoughts and observations.  Nuff said.
