Hey guys, I never did this before. So I have 3 EVGA GTX 980 ACX 2.0 I ordered water blocks for them. Is there a way to update video cards firmware to Hydro Cooper cards? So the cards will run with HC frequencies with out running extra overclocking software all the time? And if yes, how it works?

Thank you much!

You could just ask someone who has those card to upload their BIOS and overwrite it using nvflash.

    Is it safe for cards?

Well, ask EVGA, if the boards same :) But I guess yes. Anyway you could just modify the boost values using a BIOS editor to have same clocks as the Hydro Cooper version. Or even go further and flash a "nolimits" BIOS that unlocks all the potential.

Back up your existing BIOS before you think about flashing. Make sure you know how to properly flash and how to recover from a bad flash before attempting anything. I'd recommend taking the time to research the whole process yourself rather than just following some directions.

If you just want to bump up to the frequencies that the HydroCopper cards ship at, use EVGA Precision X, you won't need any special bios. This should keep you within your warranty as well.

the short of it is no .Altering bios unless giving them from EVGA with permission to flash is not covered under warranty .Is it safe to do if you know what your doing and back them up to reapply in case of RMA yes .But unless you know what your doing and are 100% confident do not attempt or you could end up with expensive paperweights .While bricking a card is rare it is possible .
