EVGA X99 Classified - Gigabit PHY or MAC?

Doing my first build in 5 years, and a few technologies, have required a bit of researching, as I've been out of the loop, so to speak.
Looking at those m.2 connectors, and thunderbolt, can wait, but what gigabit protocol should I be using? Intel i217 appears to be PHY and i210, MAC.
Is this correct?

    Yes this is correct, but there is very little difference aside form MAC supports WOL, otherwise they would perform the same.

    I notice the i210 seems ot be a bit higher performance than the i217?  The RSS queues the 210 has 4 max the 217 has 2 max.  I was scratching my head which one I should set as my primary adapter since I plug both into my switch and team them (even though teaming really does nothing for me).

    Had never looked into the RSS queues, not surprising there is a small difference.  I was basing it off of small LAN functions moving files about and form there I did not see any major difference, but I was certainly NOT using it to its capacity.
