I apologize if this already exists somewhere. I tried searching the forum and couldn't find anything within the past couple years.
So my question is, EVGA has a bunch of different models of cards using the same chip. The naming scheme seems to be inspired by Street Fighter 2. I understand that they're binned and tested, so something that overclocks well will be the higher tier card. It looks like the number of fans or the type of cooling also impacts the model number, but not always. I'm hoping someone can help me understand what all the different names mean, and if I'm missing any.
It looks like there are:
Gaming (base tier?)
SC (SuperClocked?)
SC Ultra
XC
Super SC Ultra (Is this the same as cards listed as "SSC")?
DT- I understand this is "DeTuned", in my mind I'm thinking about the guy who shows up to the gym wearing $400 worth of Jordans and Under Armour stuff but can't dunk.
FTW
FTW2
XC Black
XC Ultra
KO
Also, sometimes there are cards with identical names, but slightly different model numbers, where one mentions ACX. It looks like ACX means that something has a fancy fan, but it seems like better cooling would make something easier to overclock, which seems like it would warrant a different model name.
For example:
EVGA GeForce GTX 1080 GAMING, 08G-P4-5180-RX, 8GB GDDR5X
EVGA GeForce GTX 1080 GAMING, 08G-P4-5184-RX, 8GB GDDR5X, ACX 3.0
Thank you in advance, and again, I apologize if a glossary exists someplace and I missed it.
