Hi iVJM4tz044870Vi,

I can confirm that you can install Windows 7 with BIOS version 1.05 on the Z170 Stinger.  The BIOS was updated to allow Windows 7 to load properly.

What? That is confusing..

Are you installing onto an SSD or m.2? You got windows 7 into one sentence 3 times, lol, but not what type of drive you are using.

There should be no issues installing windows 7 on any drive. If you are using m.2, make sure you boot option is selected as UEFI from the windows 7 drive list, and it should work fine.

*didn't realize there was prior issues with win 7 installing on z170. Sorry if I caused more confusion.

Thanks Chris. I was really worried about getting the board i read some others having problems. I am really worried about buying this board becuase of this problem i read in the past post. I really like the stinger board even though it does not have a usb 2.0 internal header.

Like i said i just want to purchase a board that i will be happy with and won't have any problems or headaches.

The problem is that the Z170 Chipset does not have a certain feature that lets you use your USB when installing windows 7 so you will need a legecy mode or windows 7 until you install the drivers.

Hi iVJM4tz044870Vi,

I can confirm that when the board first released it could not install Windows 7 without slip streaming the USB 3 drivers into the installer.  I can however also confirm that as soon as this was brought up as a possible issue (which affected multiple manufacturers) we released a BIOS update (1.05) to help with this.

I still had issues, see this post a few minutes ago.. I was using a SATA drive to install from disc btw. The issue came when trying to install the USB3 drivers. Never was able to get it to work. This was also the Stinger motherboard, so good luck to you.
