Hello all,
In the process of trying to adjust voltages on my RAM to get as close to the 2400MHz speed my RAM advertises itself at, my system ended up going into an endless restart loop, in which I was unable to access even the BIOS for some reason. I had to end up defaulting my BIOS. Now, I know everyone is thinking it, but no, in my haste, I did not save a BIOS profile, as I thought I had done that after getting my computer working in the first place with all the problems I had, but I didn't. The issue I have is that now, my computer will not see my OS on my SSD. I am running Windows 8.1 on an EVGA X79 Dark, Intel i7-4960K processor, and G.SKILL F3-19200CL10Q2-64GBZHD RAM. I have reduced my troubleshooting down to having only the SSD with my OS installed on it in the computer along with the DVDR drive. I have adjusted many settings to try to get the machine to boot. The SSD drive is hooked up to the Intel SATA controller on port 0. The BIOS recognizes the drive, and lets me select it as a boot drive, but I get the error telling me to connect a boot device and press any key to continue. I had to default the BIOS, and I know I had to do some funky stuff for the boot up process to allow me to install and use the SSD in the first place, but I can't seem to get it back to that state. I have tried everything from changing the SATA mode to AHCI and toggling back to IDE mode. My instructor at the college I attend thinks it sounds like UEFI might need to be disabled, but I cannot for the life of my figure out how to disable UEFI on this motherboard. Does anyone know how to do that? Or has anyone run into a similar problem that found a fix? I tried some other stuff like booting from the DVD and running some commands to repair the BCD file, and run chkdsk /r, but to no avail. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. I tried to call tech support 3 times on it last night, but I ended up getting disconnected during the call everytime, so out of frustration I gave up and went to bed. I am hoping someone can help me as I have all of my work files and programs on this machine and I need it up and running for the business I own to function efficiently. Thanks in advance, as I always seem to have luck with the forum members here.
