I just placed my order for the Note 7. Can't wait for it to arrive. I've been wanting a tablet for a while. I look forward to finding new ways to use it.

I assume then that you have one? How do you like it? What has been your experience with performance and reliability?

My organization has about 100 tablets that we use for testing so I get to play with all of them. The only thing I don't like about it is lack of full HD. Otherwise it's a great device.

All of the Tablets that I've used have had a quirk or two and not all of those quirks were from the Tablet designer either. Having owned this Tegra Note 7 from EVGA for ~5weeks, it is functioning fine for my usage (which is mainly internet, taking notes and YouTube). My grandson's game on it a bit too, but not with games that I would say "push the envelope". What I like most about the tablet is the sound capability. It is clear and loud compared to having to wear ear-buds to hear the sound from other Tablets. My older eyes would have fared better with a 10" screen size vs the 7" though. But that is my deal, not one that should (or would) dissuade younger people. I have not upgraded the Tegra to KitKat and won't do it until I'm convinced that significant new issues won't be introduced. I just prefer not to be on the bleeding-edge of new OS releases. I've also found that I much prefer using a cheap Targus stylus to the one that comes with the Tablet (for taking notes). It just performs better and I can actually read my own writing. It also seems to react better (for me) to tapping on screen things than the stylus that comes with the Tegra. There are likely better Tablets out there, but hardly a better company than EVGA to purchase from. They are "tops" in my book after years of doing business with them.

I used all of my EVGA bucks to get it, so no out of pocket costs.

I just got mine and finished the initial setup. I'm wondering if I should go ahead and update it to KitKat. I have read about the Micro SD issue and not sure if that's really important to me or not. What other benefits/downfalls are there to updating?

Don't know yet. I do plan on upgrading to kitkat though. I am not to worried about the Micro SD at the moment since I never have more than 10gb of stuff that I would put on it. I have kitkat on my Transformer and love it though.

I went ahead and fully updated. The only thing I ever really used my SD card for was music anyway.

It seems to be a bit of a "mixed bag" with KitKat. I think for those that were suffering from something that KitKat solved, it was a good move for them. For myself, I have a 32GB SD Card installed on mine and am still running 4.3 just fine. I'm not installing apps onto that SD Card though and I think that was "the rub" for those that were having issues with 4.3. Since my Tegra is working well and I have no complaints, 4.3 is good for me and I'm gonna give KitKat a little more time to flush out issues before doing that update. It's a pleasure to have a Tablet where I have those choices. On my wife's Toshiba Thrive, Toshiba ceased issuing Android OS's after version 4.04, and her Tablet has some of the quirks that later Android releases solved. I would "root" it, but if that went badly I'd be in a world of furled eyebrows!!

Yes that is the standard Google update criteria.

i have a nexus 7 2012 and the tegra note 7. the tegra note 7 is crazy fast compared to the nexus. i dont think there is any 7 inch tablet faster than the tegra note 7. it really is amazing. main thing i dislike about it is the poor gps performance. but im going to be pairing it up with my bluetooth receiver to use for sat nav in car.

Wmmills, it would be a rather brief conversation that would end with something like "you have until the end of the day to return from Bestbuy with a new Tablet". But, I also have enough sense not to fix something that ain't broke enough to deserve exploratory surgery. No if I get her a new replacement Tablet, well...tinkering will be engaged on the Thrive! Toshiba's policy toward not supporting any further Android OS updates beyond 4.04 did not set well with many Toshiba Thrive owners. That is one reason that I did not look to Toshiba for any new Tablet purchases when I got the EVGA Tegra. I will say that the one thing that Toshiba did well was to engineer a replaceable battery into the Thrive Tablet. However that practice was short-lived and ended with the Thrive AFAIK (planned obsolescence). Tablets (like cell phones) are mostly designed as disposable products after the 1yr warranty has expired (even if all it needs is a new battery that the user can't easily access).

My Transformer Prime is looking rather old now. Has anyone tried streaming from steam onto the Note 7 and is that even being done commonly or at all yet? I may be thinking it would be a great Christmas gift to myself!

Nvidia's streaming support isn't officially on this tablet, but it is part of the new Shield Tablet, and I would tell anyone looking to get a TN7 to just spend the extra $100 for the new Shield tablet... it has an 8" 1080p screen, 2 GB of RAM, and the new K1 processor, all of which make it more than worth the extra money. I love my TN7, but I've been drooling over a ST ever since it came out, and it's taken every ounce of restraint I can muster to not go buy one (my wallet would be very unhappy with me if I did, haha).
