Looking for advise on doing a DIY projector lift for home theater

Since my 65" plasma broke, I have been researching what to buy as a replacement. I think I am going to go the front projector route with a 100" screen since my room is fairly dark anyways. The problem is that my wife doesn't want a box hanging down in the front room when it is not in use. I have sifted through the avs forums but there isn't a whole lot of info for what I want to do without spending a crazy amount of money. I would like to do something like this.....

 
I have been looking at actuators (I barely even know what they are) and they are all for huge industrial lifting and super expensive. The projector I am thinking about getting is only like 6 pounds. Can anyone give me some ideas on how to make this work, preferably by remote? My brother in law is a framing/drywall wizard so that part of it is not a problem. Also, this needs to be done cheap. If I need to, I will have a monkey in a cage in my attic that pulls a string, I don't care.

    Just an idea here, but I think it'd be cool to have the whole setup automated and linked up so that when you flip a regular light switch, screen drops down, and projector does as well. That'd be sweet. I'm sure there's a DIY way to do it reasonably cheap, it can't be that complex.

    Yeah, the projector has a 12 volt plug in that goes to the screen that will be motorized and in sync when the projector powers up but the projector lift is another ball of wax...

    It's more complicated than you think.  The projector lift and screen need to be told how long to turn on for and then told to stop.  Otherwise you could unwind the screen all the way and you could extend the lift lower than you intended.  This requires a system with logic that can be programmed.  Also, the projector and screen may use different types of actuation, for example, the screen motor may use a relay, and the projector lift may use a lower power IO.

    The screen is made to do it. That part and the projector will work together fine and is not something I even need to "build" .There are limit controls and everything on the screen. The lift for the projector is the hard part. I know they make actuators or whatever they are that you use a little screw to adjust the start and stop limits, it's just that they are all for like 200+ pounds! .
