I've never really took an interest to how my computer looked in the past (as you'll see with the first photo).  However, after browsing these forums and seeing all the different rigs out there, I decided I'd try to at least make my rig look presentable.  Now I still am planning on putting a water loop in my rig at some point, but that is going to happen after I upgrade to a Z87 board and 4770k.

Here's the before:  The RIG has the same specs as in my sig other than I had a Corsair 750TX PSU and no SSD at that point

Here's the inbetween: (Added the Corsair AX1200 and SSD)

And here's the final pic showing my RIG's current state: (Did some minor painting, and added sleeved cables)

I still have some things I'd like to do once I upgrade to Z87.  I'll keep everyone updated as I make changes to my rig and hopefully once I get my water loop installed.  Feel free to leave any comments or suggestions.

A remarkable difference. Definitely looks a lot better and your overall airflow should be improved as a result of your hard work.

Finished painting all the inner plastic components that I wanted to.  Next step is Z87 + i7-4770k, but that won't be until the beginning of August (The wife is taking the kids to visit her parents for two weeks, seems like the perfect time to do a new build!).

    that looks lovely!

Although I'd place them VGA cards like this:

So that the top card does not have to choke for it's air.
IF your mobo gives you that possibility, I'd always use it, but for the rest, neat job man

Yeah but then it runs X16/X8 at PCI 2.0, the way I have it right now is X16/X16.  I know the speed difference is for the most part negligible, but since both cards never really go above 65 I figure I might as well run them both at X16

Ah yeah well then it should not matter much :) Now if you were using GTX 480's the x16 x8 setup would of been better, cooling wise xDDD

    Re:My X58 Transformation Friday, May 02, 2014 11:13 PM (permalink)
So I finally got around to adding an actual water loop to my rig.  I also bought a EVGA pro SLI bridge, however sadly I don't think they were meant to work with the X58 layout :(.  I went with the XSPC AX360 Raystorm D5 water cooling kit.  This thing keeps my cpu below 70 during prime 95 stress testing.  My next goal is to add my GPU's to the loop as well, but i'm not sure if I want to shell out $200 bucks for waterblocks on these cards, or just wait until my next GPU upgrade to do it.  I know the two silver fans next to the black may look silly, but I had two of my Silverstone Air Penetrators leftover from my H80, and they are way better than the stock fans the come with the kit.  Plus they illuminate the inside of the case at night, and you can't see them with the side panel on. Any comments are always appreciated.
