You realized you just posted this on the EVGA forum right? I don't see too many MSI fans registering to post here lol.

As for actual card quality, I have no idea what you mean by that, but EVGA has the best warranty in the industry.

I had a MSI GTS 250, then an MSI GTX 560 Ti, now I have an EVGA GTX 760. In terms of cooling, I think MSI has a slight advantage. I went with the EVGA this time because I couldn't find an MSI 760 in stock anywhere, I have no regrets.

MSi does not build great gpu's, Evga kills MSI in all the benchmarks! When it comes to Nvidia graphic cards, no other vendor compares. Msi builds great motherboards, with Military Class IV parts nothing breaks, ever. Stick with Evga for gpu's though trust me.

Well I have a evga GTX 690.........Love it. And I recently picked up 2 MSI Titans..Love em!!!! I had a MSI 3g 580, loved it.

So as far as Brand. I would stick with evga beacuae of their warranty. I bought these MSI Titans off ebay at a ridiculous price, and took the stocks fans off and put on waterblocks (instant loss of warranty) big gamble as if the cards failed, I was done! However if they were evga and they fell over I would still be covered (not from ebay!)
as long as I did no physical damage to the cards! So the answer to your question is in the warranty. The cards are all the same except they have slightly different bios's to suit their needs.

You do realize that neither EVGA nor MSI actually "build gpu's" right?  Nvidia builds gpu's; EVGA & MSI brand and re-sell them.  It's the same exact product in a different wrapper.  The only real difference is customer service, warranty, and sometimes the cooler apparatus.

Go away. You can't be taken serious. Especially not after titan ordeal.

Both are good brand and personally I go with the one that offers the best price to feature.  It is also depends if you want to water cool or not. I don't like brands that void the warranty if you remove the stock cooler. That means I can't even replace the paste.

Their both made by Nvidia. Therefor they are the same quality.

Only difference between the two beyond chosen clocks specific to each units design is service and warranty.

I imagine the quality is the same. As others have mentioned, they use the same GPU obviously, often times are using memory from the same manufacturer, etc. There may be small differences in electrical components chosen on the boards, but I can't imagine there are any real reliability differences between brands.

Others have pretty much nailed it in what should make your decision.

    - Models offered --- degree of factory overclock, blower style cooling, twin fan axial cooling, memory options, etc. Whatever your preferences are and who offers it.

    - Service --- what voids waranty? How good are they about warranty?

    - If all else fails, whoever is $10 cheaper, lol

I have always bought EVGA primarily for their customer service reputation and this community. There are a lot of very smart people on this forum that can work you through pretty much any problem.

Also, is it true that warranty is void if MSI's cooler is removed at all? That would be a complete deal breaker for me.

Yes the MSI cards (Titans) Have a little sticker that is glued on so hard on one of the screws (GPU Chip) that actually tells you once removed warranty void. There is NO WAY you can get that off without destroying it. So you go in Knowing warranty void.............But all worked out with the waterblocks and happy days hahahaha! So yeh just do it!

As you can see the offending warranty voiding sticker below LOL. I tried so hard to get that sucker off without damging it. All to no avail, so screwdriver just went straight threw it, goodbye warranty!

Both use quality top of the line components. That said EVGA offers more after the sale. 1 step up program  2 extended warranty  3 better tech support (phone, forum, e-mail) 3 code swap for bucks 4 more rebates and sales (promotions) 5 better packaging  6 best customer service in the industry. Look at my forum join date and that's how long I have been a customer. This response on an MSI mother board (awesome).

Actually only the GPU is the same... (if not reference design) Everything else is designed, bought and sourced by the vendor. Everything from VRM layout to cooler.

I like the looks of the 780 Lightning from what I've seen of it so far (teaser pics). But the 780 Classified i also a great card. It is annoying that MSI voids your warranty if you remove the back screws though. I would NEVER buy ANY GPU from a vendor who doesn't let you remove those back screws, as I can't bear to look at a card without a backplate on it. Alas, if they include a backplate then it is no big deal to me. If I was you I'd buy the EVGA one and never look back! Actually, I'd buy a 670FTW from eBay for the same price you's spend on the 760 and have a much better card (670FTW pretty much=680, and 680 >>760).

If you are considering one of the "reference" design cards with stock coolers it probably doesn't make much difference. Some things to be aware of however. Evga has switched to lower quality Elpida memory on recent cards without warning (good tactic, send out the first high quality batch to reviewers, once they're all done cheapen it up and sell like hot cakes)! See this thread:

Also, on the ACX side of things people have had nothing but trouble with crazy fan bugs (my SLI 780's have gotten stuck at 100% fan mode before, I came back to a computer that sounded like a jet engine). There is also the fact that it's taken forever for them to address the minimum fan speed, and their solution if explained correctly in this thread:  doesn't sound terribly safe. Why on earth would a minimum fan speed setting have any effect on maximum!? So far my experience with evga cards has not been so great, my MSI twin fozr gtx 680 4gb on the other hand was perfect out of the box.

My EVGA GTX 570s were amazing! I loved them and had no problems for the 2 years I owned them (I still have 1). My ASICs were 80% and 86% (still have the 86 XD) and they went to 950 core and 2100 (IIRC) memory. Great cards and I was really happy with their performance and quality! I haven't had to deal with their RMA so I can't speak about that personally.

Go for whatever is cheaper, I've heard good from MSI as a company, and we all know EVGA is just as good.

I will either find a way, or make one.

As far as quality of the hardware, they are both reputable manufacturers and there probably isn't a whole lot of difference.  As far as quality of support if you ever do have a problem with your hardware, I have never seen any tech company that even came close to EVGA, that's why I will buy their video cards exclusively for as long as they continue to build them and support them like they do.

I have an ASUS GTX TITAN and I am going to have to RMA it soon due to some memory problems. I think that their GPU RMA is alright if you call them and request a cross-ship so I don't have any problems doing that. They have equal warranty terms as EVGA because they have the same 3 year serial number warranty and I believe you don't need to be the original purchaser to cross-ship RMA but with EVGA you do.

Re:'Which is better quality?' EVGA or MSI - Nvidia GeForce GTX 760 Friday, August 16, 2013 9:24 PM (permalink)
For me, MSI WAS NOT so good 10+ years ago. Now, they are really stepping up and raising the bars up high.

They started to build quality items i.e GPUs, Motherboards, Laptops....etc.

Now if I am to choose between the two, I would go with EVGA.

    Why ?

-Because they are close to me, in California in case if I needed anything.

-Their card looks better than the MSI (My opinion).

-BLACK PCB compared to brownish PCB in the MSI.

-Great customer service with 100% English speaking representatives.

    -Great community !

    Hope I helped.

From what I have read, MSI customer service is extremely hit or miss to the point I would rather purchase a warranty from a 3rd party like squaretrade than deal with MSI. Both company's products have their issues like my factory oc'ed msi 260 gtx that could not maintain the clocks after a month, so I had to manually lower them. However, the twin fans were inaudible. My evga 480 gtx was hot, loud, held a 10%+ oc, and ran flawlessly. This time around, my classified, which was built for overclocking, cannot actually overclock and has a fan resonance/whine/etc. that is becoming an increased annoyance. I would choose whichever offered the better performance at a lower price and just purchase a 3rd party warranty if that was MSI. You should research the product because even obscure issues like the fan noise may be a sufficient deterrent to change your mind.

Looking for a card that will last more than 3 years ?

You can always get EVGA and get the extended 10 years warranty if you want to keep it any longer.

Personally, I don't really believe in that "All Japanese capacitors" things that MSI say. But hey, that is just me.

EVGA all the way, any day :)

Like I said above, I doubt there is any real advantage as far as longevity goes between either brand. It's probably hit or miss and depends on what you do with it when you're talking about a GPU lasting 4, 5, 6 years. I seriously doubt MSI cards last any longer. I guess I'll put it that way.
