I just set up two 256GB Samsung 840 Evos in RAID 0 (128KB Strip) on my X79 Deluxe ASUS board. It comes out to ~238 GB for each drive or 476GB for both.

However, I'm losing over 100GB of space due to my pagefile and hibernation sizes.

pagefile.sys 63GB
hiberfil.sys 48GB

The 64GB of RAM isn't for show, I will be needing it. I've read that if I'm not using hibernation I can just disable that altogether but what about Page File? Should I keep a few GBs in there?

You can kill hibernation if you never use it, not a problem. You could leave a very few gb's for pagefile, although I seriously doubt it will ever be accessed.

If you never hibernate your desktop you can turn it off.

Start -> type "cmd" -> Run as Administrator -> type in: powercfg -h off

I would reserve at least 1 GB (or more depending on what you're doing since you're using a lot of RAM) for your paging file since some programs require it. You can set the size manually in:
Control Panel -> System -> Advanced system settings -> Advanced tab -> Performance Settings -> Advanced tab again -> Change virtual Memory

    Set the Custom size there.

    Initial size (MB): 1024
    Maximum size (MB): 1025
    (or whatever size you prefer)

FYI, this command works only if the Bios is set to allow hibernate, at least for the Dark X79 MB.
I then disable it this Bios after I run the powercfg -h off

Unfortunately after disabling hibernation and setting my pagefile.sys to 2048 min and 4096 max Windows 7 no longer boots! BOOTMGR Missing. I tried running a Repair from my Win 7 disc and it did not fix it. After attempting it a second time it tells me it is not a compatible OS. I also tried running bootsec fixes in command prompt.

Is this just a coincidence or could this have been caused by adjusting the pagefile?

That should not happen at all. Can you unplug and replug the SATA and power from the SSD? Go into BIOS and set the SSD as the first boot device too.

Startup Repair off the Windows 7 disk should have also fixed the bootmgr missing..

Sorry to here that, not sure either one could have caused this.
Looks more like a Raid issue, if you drop one SSD Driver the hole raid is down.
I your Boot drive the whole 476GB? or did you partition it to two or more drives?

I did not partition, I installed Windows 7 directly to the 476GB. Of course it creates the separate partition for 100MB Recovery but that is all. This is a fresh install on a new system. I have no files on there yet so I just deleted the partitions that were created and reinstalled Win7 again, directly to the 476GB RAID.

I'm sure this will work I just hope this doesn't happen again when I do have something to lose.

UPDATE: Yeah, reinstall worked.. never had to reconnect SATA or anything. I don't know why it happened but it's fixed. I disabled hibernate and reduced pagefile again, restarted and I'm still good. I would like to make sure that the boot priority stays with the RAID SSD first but on my board the boot priority list only shows 'bootable devices'. So unless I plug in other devices I won't be able to make those adjustments, I don't think.

Good to see the issue was fixed without data loss. I'm not sure what happened.. maybe removing that huge chunk of data caused the drives to drop out of the RAID 0 array.
