I have money burning a hole in my pocket. Ready to unload on a new GPU for my Triple Monitor Setup. Thanks to everyone on their advice I am convinced the 780 ti is the best card for me.... however.... I keep hearing about the 790 and the Titan Black coming out this month. I have been eyeballing twitter and different forums every day. For a product that expects to be released any day now... the talk about it is non existent. What is the deal with these 2 cards?!?! I am going crazy thinking about it. For a 5760 x 1080 resolution do I NEED the 6gb of VRAM? Do I NEED the Titan Black or the 790? If only I could see benchmarks :( Release dates? rumors? ...... anything? Would it be safe to say the 780 ti is perfect for me and even better if I run 2 of them in SLI that there will never be a need for a 790 or titan black or anything else that comes out in 2014... or even 2015 if the 780ti is as good as they say it is. (on a side note even though I have 5760 x 1080 ... i don't expect to run that res in ultra or very high... i am ok in low or medium settings at that resolution. It is running a single monitor when I want the best quality)

I know you're anxious but I'd wait to see if these said cards do launch this month, see how they're priced.see if they drop the price of the ti. The 780 went from $650 to $500 when ti launched. (Also partially due to 290x price.) I think if you can afford two ti's you'd be good for awhile. The 800 series will not match the performance. Perhaps the 900 series will come close?

The best way to answer your questions is to answer them one by one. First, is the memory. Your question is, do you *need* more than the standard 3GB's that comes on a reference 780Ti. The answer to that is, no. It is not *required* to have more than 3GB's of vram to play games at any resolution. Now, is it *preferred* to have more than 3GB's with the kind of resolution you are running? Absolutely, yes. At 3GB's you will run into a bottleneck pretty quick in most games. To give you an example, I run a single 2560x1600 monitor and I see upwards of 3.5 to 4GB of vram usage with Call of Duty. Now could I turn down the eye candy settings, and get it below 3GB's? Sure I could, but do I want to? No, absolutely not. In my own personal opinion, a big part of the whole pc gaming experience is the quality of the video so why would I want to start turning down settings?? Second, the 790. You first need to understand what this card is, which is nothing more than two 780's on one pcb. Details of this card have not been officially released yet, so everything about the card is just speculation at this point. Nobody really knows how much memory it will have, or if it will even be two 780's. For all we know, it could end up being two 770's..........I seriously doubt this, I'm just making the point that we simply don't know. The rumor is that it will have 10GB's of vram total, which would mean 5GB's per gpu or more importantly 5GB's total useable vram (1GB less than the Titan). This card is ideal for people that only want a single card, or have small cases that can only fit a single card. Anytime you have the option of having two separate cards vs. a single card with two gpu's the two separate gpu's will almost always be better. Last, the Titan Black. Again, just like the 790 this card has yet to be announced so official specs are not available yet, but I think it's safe to *assume* that it will be nothing more than a 780 Ti with 6GB's of vram. Now, out of all of these options, if I were in your shoes, and I had the money to spend, I would be looking at two Titan Blacks. This would give you both the power and the vram to run the resolution you have to it's potential, or at least as close as you can.

I don't mean to get off topic, but I hope NVidia allows the titan black, if it does manifest into a 780Ti, with double precision, to get non reference coolers from the factory, and non reference PCBs from the marketers. Could you imagine a Titan Black Classified... That is just a pipe dream, but it would be awesome.

Nah, don't think Nvidia will let the board partners make custom coolers for the Titan Black. I guess it'll be just the same as with the original Titan...

It's bad because NVIDIA didn't launch option for guys who have money to afford 4K monitors and 3 monitors... Because best option for them is 2x Titan and little more CUDA would be good thing... OK they can compensate that with second card easy... From other side 6GB card many of us can't afford... Because example I couldn't buy only 6GB model reference model that would be madness for 1920x1080, 6GB for me can be only little plus on other thing if price is good... First what I need is non reference board, good voltage controller, good cooling, and silent card because heat from one card is not problem for my case and at the end 6GB and such card could cost 900-1100$ I don't have money to pay that. Maybe is everything story to keep AMD on distance and leave them with think that NVIDIA can even better. Many enthusiast spend money first Titan than on GTX780 than on GTX780Ti... Now good part of people wait Maxwell on very powerful cards as GTX780Ti SLI... Before Maxwell show up we will not see 2 games where memory usage is so huge... Dual GTX790 is more realistic because some stories talk about AMD plans to put 2 Hawaii on one board... I don't know how they think to cool that, maybe with some kind of cooler as ARES II and 2xGK110 with 6GB is more real for me... But than again we have stories about Maxwell and it's not good if NVIDIA launch such card one month before Maxwell.

I was reporting 4 gb+ VRAM usage on bf4 with surround 1080. Sli 780s(ti) would do the trick, but if you've waited this long, what's a couple more weeks?
I'm on a 460 ATM, was on 780 classified sli, but am waiting till the end of feb to buy a new.

I may just end up getting 2 x 780 ti when the price drops. My MB can support up to 4 way SLI or Crossfire so i could at least count on the 780 ti whether it was just 1 of them or 4 of them to last the next 3-4 years I think?

I think GTX780Ti price will not drop before Maxwell... GTX780 price drop only because chip from same series with more CUDA show up and replace him, NVIDIA drop price of weaker card than AMD and launch stronger to take crown back from AMD. Same is with series GTX6xx and GTX5xx and Intel i7 and i5... I don't know where you leave but GTX780Ti Classified price drop in Europe for 50e soon... From 750e to 699e... now that is best option for high end graphic AMD/NVIDIA.

That (3-4) years is a long time in the Video game development and Vram requirements may double by then.

My guess would be that the Titan Black gets released at the exact same price point as the original Titan. I say this only because they've stated that they aren't releasing it until all stock of regular Titans runs out, and the Black will be a direct replacement. Just my guess though.

Don't expect the 790 or titan black to hit next week. The titan apparently has to be sell out before they release the titan black. The 790 has no release date. The only thing we know is that they EXIST. we know nothing officially. all we heard is rumors and them appearing on some webshops. if the rumors are right then the 790 wont be good for the VRAM requirement since if its 2X 780 or 2 X 780 TI then the card will still only have 3 gigs of ram usable because of SLI(there will be 6 gig on the PCB but 3 gig isn't used) The Titan black should be just a Titan with full cuda count. So essentially a 780Ti on steroids with full double precision(useless for us) and 6 gigs of ram (useful for some of us)
