I just noticed Linux GPU folding is supported and am considering adding a GTX 670 to my BigADV system. I would normally search endlessly and try to figure this out without asking but I don't have much free time these days.

Will a Linux GPU client steal BigADV CPU cycles and negatively impact BigADV PPD? If so, how much?
I'm currently using Ubuntu 10.04 LTS. What is the best NVIDIA driver?
And other tips, advice or things I should be aware of?

As for your question about impact it will have some and more in some cases as the GPU will still
need a free CPU core in Linux to get full PPD. Depending on how many cores your system has
can be a down fall to folding GPU in Linux, say for example if you have a 24 core system you loose
4 CPU cores to to run 1 GPU since you can't use anything between 24 and 20 as 21,22 and 23
are blacklisted from use since there not folding stable core numbers.

I had to use client-type advanced for mine to see the GPU on my 2P Ubuntu 10.04 LTS rig I let Ubuntu install the GPU driver, I am not a UN9 user. I am also using FAH 7.3.6 waiting for 7.4.x once HFM is updated to support it.
On the CPU GPU you need to keep the CPU in even numbers like 8 or 24 would be good but not 9 or 23.
I ran with 32 cores on my 2P set to 30 Cores for BigAdv and left 2 Cores open one for the GPU and the other for whatever it need it for. Nice Rig! +1 I see you could Fold on 2 GPU? I wonder how much power you would need to Fold with 30 Cores and 2 GPUs?

PS.. The UN9 is a joke at my work place, I know it is UNIX and now for the most part Linux due to the death of Sun.
Caused by Windows Server Admin -v- UNIX Server Admin, not so true with the Linux Admin though they seem to not care either way. I think that Ubuntu has help us old Windows users make the step to the other side much easer then then the Sun OS.

Thanks for the info guys. Looks like I will be moving soon so I'm going to put this project on hold for the time being.
