Question about the precision X mobile. is it possible to download it now or would we have to wait for the laptop to be shipped and arrived first? Just wondering if it can be used with desktops, just without using the laptop features, or if it'll only work on the laptop

reason I ask is I really like the UI of it, and have a tool that combines Precision and Eleet into one would be nice.

It will only work on the laptop, as it was designed for it. You can download it today at www.evga.com/pxm but you need to have a registered laptop to get it.

No detailed specs on the panel? Panel looks pretty weak, not all of us are impressed with "just" hires screens...

For a 17" screen, 1440P, better PPI and IPS that can do 120Hz without lag would of been a better choice.

I do like the look of the laptop and wish they would have gone 1440p for the panel, just so the 980m could push a better FPS. I Can't wait to see the end user reviews.

    better PPI

Doesn't PPI stand for Pixels Per Inch?  If so, how would going from a 4K monitor to a 1440p monitor be getting better PPI?  That makes no sense.  You would be losing a lot of PPI by doing that, it would do the opposite.

And that 4K IPS monitor doesn't look weak at all, wish I had a 4K IPS monitor...

Just because something is higher-res, doesnt means it has better PPI!

Can you explain that knightsilver? I'm not seeing how 3840x2160 is lower PPI than 2560x1440 in the same size panel.

Just because something is higher-res, doesnt means it has better PPI!

    Scenario:
You have two screens side by side. Both screens are 10 square inches. One screen has 2 pixels and one screen has 4 pixels. You come along and say "just because the 2x2 screen has more pixels than the 2x1 screen, doesn't make the 2x2 screen have a higher PPI". Umm, what?

The screen size is a set size determined by the size restrictions of the rest of the product. Given that only a certain size screen can fit in the laptop, tell us how decreasing the number of pixels (resolution) doesn't decrease the number of pixels per inch. I guess you could add a 6" plastic bezel around the whole screen and have a 6" screen in the middle with a higher pixel per inch at lower resolution.

Please explain because your logic is the opposite of the definition of PPI.

    PPI of a 2160p 17.3" monitor = 254.67 PPI
    PPI of a 1440p 17.3" monitor = 169.78 PPI

As you can see, by going up to a 2160p monitor over a 1440p monitor, you actually gain 50% MORE PPI.  That is a big difference.

This does look very intriguing. My laptop of 6 years actually just quit on me, so I'm in the market for one. I really like some of the features EVGA has built in. The bios, the software, the thin profile, the aluminum chassis, etc. are all awesome features.

I am curious why they chose to go with a 4K screen. I would be much more interested in a 1080P G-Sync screen. Everyone knows a 980M isn't going to be powering 4K gaming. It just seems it presents unnecessary scaling issues with Windows and other software for really not much to gain since you are likely to still be gaming at 1080P.

I also hope that in the near future they offer hardware options. I personally don't need 32 GB of memory for gaming. I also don't really want a mechanical HD as it just adds unnecessary weight. A 512 GB NVME SSD is all I would personally want.

These are all just my personal preferences, of which everyone has their own. Ultimately it would be awesome if EVGA had a couple different models that offered ready to ship but also allowed customers to custom order. Even if it was just limited to a few memory and storage options, that would be a huge bonus.

Overall, I love the approach EVGA has taken to this machine. I can't wait to see what EVGA does with this in the future.

I would like to give my input on improving the laptop. While I'm a pretty much die hard EVGA fan as I prefer to speak to American people when I call tech support if I ever have to I have come to like my MSI gaming laptop as it's very well built and it wasn't like you guys made a laptop last year. lol.

Anyways my two issues with the EVGA laptop, however small it still involves me having to spend money to address them which I don't feel that I should have to being I would be paying $2700 for a laptop.

1.) You guys need more USB slots, a minimum of four, I like to plug my mouse and my laptop chillmat plug on the left side, as the right side would just make for clutter of wires. I know I could buy an adapter for it, but that still involves me spending more money.

2.) Perhaps make two models, one with and without an optical drive. It being a little thicker is not a big deal to me being I currently have the MSI GT72 Dominator Pro G-034 model. But I often watch movies and stuff and do other things that require me to use an optical drive. If you even purchased one that also means you have to carry it around and that's something that I'm sure some people feel the same about as I do that they need one.

Those two would prevent me from ever buying this laptop model because I feel that's two easy things that were over looked. Again, this is just my input.
