Hello everyone:
I just purchased NVIDIA 3D vision discover glasses (red & blue type), after installing the 3D stereo drivers and set it up, I opened for the 1st time the game LEFT 4 DEAD 2 and activated 3D effect by pressing default key (CTRL+T) and yes, made a big difference (like day and night), you can allso set the deepness by pressing (CRTL+F3 decrease and CTRL+F4 increase) to meet your preferences, but now we run to my point, 3D effects are amazing, but the colors looks very distorted (you can barely make up green from blue or red) so in the beginning I was thinking there was a problem with my PC, but after research I find out that is a problem with anaglyph glasses, I look around different forums and I found what to input on the reg file in order to change the setting but no one explained how to do it, for people like me that don't know nothing about reg files and how to edit them, any way this is the way to change those settings:
(NOTE: you will have to repeat this procedure bellow explained every time you open the game,,, you will need to leave the reg file editor open the whole time you gaming in order to apply the changes on the game, by closing the reg file editor or closing the game the setting will go back to default) ok, now we ready to begin
you need to open the game you wanna play,, then after game is started press ALT+TAB for switch back to desktop and:

1) on the start menu on the bottom where it say "search programs and files" type "run" press ENTER
then it will open the fallowing window

then type RegEdit just as I type it with Caps letters, this is a free reg file edit included from Microsoft in your win7, then press ENTER and a window asking you permission to run the software will appear, press YES of course, at this point you will have open on your screen the reg file editor software,

2)now on the left side click in order this folders names
click HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE folder then on the bottom click on this subfolder named SOFTWARE then Wow6432Node then NVIDIA corporation then Stereo 3D
at this point on the right side of the screen you will see all the reg files

3) at this point right click on the reg file named StereoAnaglyph Type on the submenu click on Modify.... and inside the window that will appear you will see inside the box Value Data: a number 1 , that 1 stands for half color mode so change it to a 0 to obtain full colors (or all most full colors but this will increase ghosting on some colors but you will be able to distinguish more colors for sure)
0=full color
1=half color (default by NVIDIA)
2=gray scale
There is more setting like determinate what type of glases are you using?
Examble if you using yellow&blue glasses you can change the setting to set the 3D effect with those glasses by changing:
right clicking on RightAnaglyphFilter then on submenu click Modify... and inside the window that will appear you will see inside the box Value Data:
type:
ff0000ff=blue glass
ff00ff00=green glass
ff00ffff= Cyan (default by NVIDIA)
and for left lens look for the file named LeftAnaglyphFilter then repeat same operation and change value to:
ffffff00=yellow glass
ffff00ff=magenta glass
ffff0000=red glass (default by NVIDIA)

I hope I write it clear enough (since my english isn't that good) and I hope I was able to help people like me that doesn't know much about computer, it took me all day research and experimentation to came up to this, so I really hope I can be help for some one since there is no treads on this forum about 3D.

Best regards Dominick

    If a regedit batch file could be written to do this with a single click before game launch it would be sweet.

    Well like I said I'm not too knowledge about pc, I hope if some one come up with something that let you save those parameters in that reg file permanently would be appreciated, but I made thing a little easy by just pin register editor to the taskbar so I don't have to run and type RegEdit all the time, and in the reg editor software I saved in the favorite the Stereo3D folder, so I don't have to look for it all the time.
    About the wrong section, where I should post it, so people that looking for this can find it easier.

    .reg files can be written to add or modify keys.  It would take a double-click and then a  "confirm" press to use it.  But if the registry must remain open (I don't know why that's true), it won't do you any good.

    Yes, that is the problem, as long you keep the REGEDITOR open, the file will keep the new setting, as soon you close the REGEDITOR, or after a reboot of window every thing goes back to default , I find out that you don't have to exactly make the changes each time you open a game, but at list the first time you boot into window, then after you open REGEDITOR and make you changes, as long the software is open it will keep your new setting, it's weird, but I think that NVcontroll panel has something to do with it, I think (not sure) that NVcontroll panel set and force everything back to default and ignore your setting, but as long the REGEDITOR is open you over ride it in some how.

    like I said, I'm not quite sure WHY that would be true, because having regedit open doesn't "lock" the use of the registry.  Other programs can still read and write to it, even the part of the "tree" that you have open.

    So, I guess the program must look to see what other programs are open or attempt to access the registry in a (unknown) way that is inhibited by the user having it open.

    I don't know, but do you think there is any way, to save permanently the setting that you put in, so that you don't have to enter them each time?
    Because you know it's pretty annoying, specially that for some reason I have the NVDIA 3D discover glasses (red & cyan) but when enter full color I get ghosting, and I find out that if you set the right lens to blue instead of cyan you get less ghosting and better colors for some reason, so every time I wanna play on 3D I have to reenter those info.....

    There is apparently a way to lock keys from being edited in the registry.  I think it's a key-by-key (folder-by-folder really) thing, but I'm not certain.

    so, you could have a program that opens it up, writes the new key value, keeps the registry locked down, launches the program, then unlocks the registry.  But I don't know if such a program exists and is scriptable for this particular instance.  You might be able to block certain programs from writing to the registry - so your game  can never alter those keys mid-game.

    Awesome post - in the end like most semi to fully helpless hybrid nerds out there, I'm wondering if by now someone has turned this awesome step by step guide into a macro or batch file, something of the semi automatic sort.

    You guys can do anything, show me the money!!!

    PS - web searched the heck of out anything nearly as helpful or more complete than this thread, but slap me on the head if I missed something somewhere short of a $3000 TV lol.
