Hello,
I recently won an EVGA 770 super clocked edition in a competition and decided to use that and sell my 2 gtx 580's. after a clean install of drivers and such I decided to run heaven and vally benchmarks. The score I got for heaven was around 850 and for vally it was just over 1000, I know that this is poor. I looked online to see what other people were getting and basically mine came nowhere close! I was running them both in ultra at 1080.
Could anyone shed some light on to why this might be please. I can't remember the exact specs of my pc but I have an I7 @3.5 and 16gb of ram. Any other benchmark results would be well received. Hoping its just something silly I have/havnt done.
Thanks all

yea low for sure, this is mine on valley and heaven on a 770 superclocked.

It sounds like a problem with the drivers you have installed, try some different sets to see what happens, 320.18, 320.49, 326.19, etc

Congratz on the nice win there...  At this point, I would agree with Nite.  Try the latest WHQL or Beta driver and see how you do.  That Valley score is way low as you already know.  Make sure you do a "Clean" and Custom" driver install.  Only select the items you need like the graphics & PhysX portions.  (unless you use 3D)  Skip the rest of it.

    I have a similar problem :/ I have 2 770 classifieds

Is my cpu bottlenecking my cards?.  Or is it because its connected on pcie 2.0 lanes?
Im just wondering if i should upgrade my motherboard and cpu or just try and overclock my 960

If your CPU is at stock clocks, then I would say you're bottlenecking your 770's.  An OC to about 4.0ghz or higher would make a pretty big difference.  As far as 2.0 lanes, that's not going to be that much of a factor.  >> http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/Intel/Ivy_Bridge_PCI-Express_Scaling/23.html

That should work fine for 4.0ghz and maybe even 4.2 depending on how much voltage your chip needs to achieve it and for the amount of air flow in your case etc...

No his CPU is fine at stock cause he only has a single 770 not SLI, mine is at stock and and my score is way higher then his too, something else is causing the low score.

Well I tried a number of drivers, including complete removal of the old ones but it only made a few points worth of difference. So I thought I would format my windows HD and give it a nice clean install (was getting full of crap anyway!) and it seems to have done the trick.

my windows 7 install is over 2 years old and surprisingly no problems other then occasional driver reset glitches sometimes which is expected since I run folding@home all the time. It never does it to me in games though.

anyway glad ya got it fixed

I think overclocking the cpu will help also get the latest drivers. my scores with a much less expensive ASUS GTX770 Direct CU OC 2Gb DDR5. My scores are well over 2000 on ultra .

Instead of overclocking would it be better if I bought an i5-4670 with a gigabyte z-87x d3h motherboard?
Overclocking is uncharted territory for me and i wouldn't mind spending on a new cpu and mobo

Clock for clock the 4670 will be somewhat faster than your 960 and it will boost higher stock than your 960 as well.  It really is up to you.  The only thing I would be fairly certain of is that you would be "less bottlenecked" with the 4670.  What I'm not certain of is to what degree if any bottleneck remained.
So it's up to you & your budget.

lol.  Yep.  One thing I could add is, with the 4670, Oc'ing to 4.2ghz would be a bit easier than on the 960.  If you ever wanted to give it a try...

Lol yeah i think imma do that! I have the opportunity to sell my 960 along with the mobo so ill get the i5-4670k! Gotta learn how to overclock now hehe XD

Oh yeah...if you have a buyer already for the CPU & mobo, that makes the decision much easier...as far as OC'ing, lots of guides and good people in the forums here to assist with that...
