Hi,

I would like to get an EVGA GeForce GTX 780 Classified w/ ACX Cooler. The problem is the Fractal Design Arc Mini R2 mini tower case, as illustrated in the attached image. It may be worth mentioning that the side panel has a window, so no vent. However, I can install an 120 mm fan on the bottom of the case, next to the PSU.

Potential solutions I've come up so far:

1. Get a reference type card instead (i.e., the EVGA GeForce GTX 780 SC).

2. Turn the PSU fan side up so that it exhausts the graphics card's outtake.

3. Get a slot blower, such as the Antec Super Cyclone Blower. The problem is that all the ones I've seen so far aren't long enough (build an air duct, maybe?). The one I've mentioned may also be problematic because it takes up two slots, meaning there would be no empty slots between it and the card. Seems like a bad idea.

4. Elevate the case and install an outtake fan on the bottom of the case, although it would fight convection.

5. Install an outtake fan on the remaining empty slots, as if they were a vent.

Any suggestions are appreciated.

Cheers,
Bogdan

Is there a way to move the lower HDD Bays? That could allow for placement of an exhaust fan.

    Hi,

Thanks for the reply. Both cages are removable. I could even remove both and place the HDD below the optical drive. The SDD goes on the back of the motherboard tray.

Interesting idea but where should I place the intakes? If I install an intake on the front and an outtake below, won't they fight over airflow? Btw, I have room for 3 fans on the top of the case but was worried about convection.

    Cheers,
    Bogdan

Where does the ACX cooler get it's air from? Outside the case, inside, or both? Assuming it takes it from outside, I would put 3 intake fans on top and as many exhaust as you can on the front. That way, you have cool air blowing down on everything and the front panel exhaust clears it all out.

I think this diagram is understandable. First time I've used paint don't judge me XD

Interesting. And would I orient the CPU cooler to the front of the chassis, if I can? The cooler is a Thermalright Silver Arrow SB-E Extreme (w/ a 3rd Thermalright TY-143 fan installed).

From what I have read having more than one fan in the middle of coolers that style is unnecessary. I would orient it so the exhaust from it is flowing towards the exhaust in the front, remove the middle fan on the top of the case, and possibly remove the fans on the left and right of the CPU cooler itself. It would mess with airflow having 1 fan blow down on the CPU cooler directly.

I'll experiment with your suggestion and small variations of it. Thank you. :)
