sooooo, i've been out of the PC world for awhile. parted out my PC back in late 2011 i believe, and bought an imac after being fed up with drivers, windows and fiddling with hardware. i also was not gaming as much anymore, and the gtx 470 was just creating too much heat even while idling and sucking too much power. fast forward a couple years and i now have a good amount of free time on my hands, have been playing some games lately and am finding that the 6750m in the imac just isn't enough for games outside of wow. i do still love the imac and think that for what it is, it's a fantastic machine, and price-wise with a top-tier display, they're fairly competitive (i'm talking base models).

anyway, without bringing a bunch of mac hate into it- i just ordered some stuff on newegg after signing up for a preferred account, just to see if i'd be accepted. so, the parts list!

Seagate Barracuda 1TB
Samsung 840 EVO 120GB SSD
Corsair H100i

and, an ASUS MX239H monitor, since i sold my old one when i bought my imac. i'm pretty stoked, i've never done a small build, nor a build that's reasonably high-end (i suppose fairly mainstream, honestly) at the time of purchase, nor have i combined the two. i'm excited to see how it all turns out for sure. the ssd will be interesting also, since i've yet to experience one. i'm not sure what i'm going to put on it yet aside from windows. i'm hoping the wifi and sound card built into the motherboard are pretty solid, the wifi in the imac is pretty fantastic and i'm hoping that'll be the case with asus based on their success with routers, and i really liked my cheap little $10 ASUS usb wireless adapter i use to use.

yessir, should be a good time :) last build was an evga 750i ftw with i believe an e7300 and a gtx 470, so this'll definitely be a bit different, at least on the cpu side! i'm not entirely sure how the 760 compares to the old 470, but it should be good enough for awhile.
