Hello Forum members,

I need to get some advice. I’m thinking of selling my 2 GTX 670 FTW 2gbs for some 4 gigs but not sure if it would be worth it. I game on a 1080p monitor and like to get the 60 fps. The only game right now that I see slow down with, is Crysis 3. I want some cards that will last me a few years and not sure if the 2gbs will be able to push games for the next few years.

Asus MAXIMUS Z790 HERO
I9 14900K
64GB DDR5 Dominator Titanium
RTX4090 STRIX
Corsair HX1500W
Asus Helios
Samsung 990 PRO

you wouldnt see too big of a difference unless you were using more than one monitor .....in crysis 3 the AA filter is really demanding turn that down and you will get better frames and it still looks amazing :)

    Oops I missed it.

Before you run out of VRAM you'll run out of GPU horsepower.
Even at 1080p with all the goods turned on we're seeing games eating more than 1900MB of VRAM used.  And with time I'm sure you'll see games eating up to 2GB + this and next year.  However the 670 doesn't have the grunt.

Recommendation, get a 7950/7970/7990 however realize that even with the amazing drivers that AMD has been pushing out their CrossFire support is still slow vs Nvidia's SLI profile, if you go with dual cards.
The Nvidia upgrade path would be 4GB 680 in SLI or single/two Titans (a single Titan isn't a "true" upgrade for you, however Titan does have more GPU grunt just won't give you high high FPS).

Thanks for the link. Sounds like I should stick with the 2gbs for now as the extra $$$ wouldnt bee worth it. Sounds like I need to get some water blocks for them. : )

Unless your running a game like skyrim with a crap ton of mods 2GB is fine for 1080p. I would only say grab the 4GB cards if you ever plan on going multiple monitors, hires or 3D.

    Case: CM Storm Stryker
    CPU: i7 3820
Mobo:  Asus Rampage Extreme IV x79
    Ram: 16GB Kingston HyperX
    GPU: 3x670 SC 4GB
    PSU: Corsair AX1200
    SSD/HDD: 128GB Crucial M4/2TB+1TB Seagate Barricuda
    Monitors: Asus VG278HE 27" 144hz 3D 1080p/ Acer H5630 3D projector 85"
    G700/Razer Black Widow Ultimate/G27 Racing Wheel/Razer Nostromos

I am playing it safe this time around and getting another 680 FTW+. If I had bought the 3GB 580's I would have left them in SLI until the 700/800 series.

Currently there are no games that I can think of that push you over the 2GB of vram limit, sadly with nvidia its either to little vram or to much vram, they just don't have a happy medium like AMD.

Only reason i'm keeping the 680 and grabbing another for SLI in summer, is simply because this is my last GPU upgrade for a few years. Otherwise I would just stick with one card and wait for the 700 series :)
