With the chip shortage I don't see any new GPUs coming out until late next year in my personal opinion. NVIDIA and AMD can't even keep up with current demand.

TSMC have raised their chip costs so this will be passed along to the OEMs.

Normally it's about 20-30% faster over last gen when the new one launches least for the top end card, in some tests anyway. though I'm thinking it's still at least a year away, if not more, things like prices and availability might change a lot before the next gen launches, so hard to make much of a prediction just yet, we could find shortages become milder before the next gen launches, or even see the next gen wait until it gets better. 10 days from now it'll be 1 year from the launch of the 3080 that's still sold out everywhere (aside from scalper prices) If I recall correctly for the 2080 ti it was about 4 month before they appeared in stock in some places, maybe 6 before it did so consistently. it's double that and counting now, so I'm expecting an even longer gap between generations, making predictions about the 4080 or whatever next gen cards to be even harder to make. We might not even get next gen til 2023.

I vote 40% also. Graphics are making much bigger jumps that CPU. Unless they get the power consumption under control, then 20%.

It will sell out. Perhaps we will see separate mining cards as well?

I don't see that happening personally. Next gen high end cards will probably be over 1000 dollars.

As things are now with the increasing cost of manufacturing, distribution, and don't forget inflation, I think you're going to see the lowest level 4080 MSRP at around $950+. I wouldn't be surprised at all if it breaks $1,000+ depending on the AIB.

My guess would be that Nvidia will have learned from the 30 series what works best for DLSS and ray tracing, so the 40 series will be better at those things.
