I'm in the market for a new gaming headset and was looking for feedback on some good gear.

I'm currently using Tritton 5.1 surround headset and its been rock solid, they are very worn out and looking to upgrade.

Price range $150-$200, not sure if there is a huge difference between 5.1 and 7.1.  No wireless, have a creative sound blaster Z card that I need to make use of.

I was looking at the Razor Tiamat.

Or the Sennheiser PC 350 SE

I'd get the Sennheiser's, the Tiamat does nice surround but the audio quality isn't the best. (And plus... their heavy which makes them uncomfortable to wear for long periods.)
The difference between 5.1 and 7.1 in headphones isn't that noticeable.

Have you checked out the Astro A40 headsets. The only reason i mention them is due to Sennheiser charging arm+leg for it's "gaming" headsets. I paid $140 for my PC-350 (older version). Another option i have seen people do is buy Sennheiser H558 and buy a modmic to stick on it.

I have  these and really like them http://www.amazon.com/ROCCAT-Surround-Gaming-Headset-ROC-14-500/dp/B00275C2L6

These look pretty good.  I haven't heard of ROCCAT, but definitly right up my alley for what I'm looking for.
Anyone else have experience with this company?

Well after researching for a couple hours, I went with the Sennheiser PC360 for Pro Gaming.

I hope these will exceed my expectations for gaming.  I was thrown off by no surround sound, but hopefully the quality of sound makes up for that.

I don't understand why the PC350SE were more expensive than the PC360?  I was leaning on the 350SE but decided on the newer 360 version.

try using razer surround, Virtual 7.1 audio for stereo headphones. (no idea how much it effects audio quality though.)

It's nuts how much Sennheiser has jacked up the prices. They moved the volume control from inline to built into headset and charge $100 more.

I think you will like the PC360 headset. My PC350 are over 3yrs old and work fine. The only thing i have done to them is replace the pleather pads with velour pads (HD555/595 pads).

For what it is  worth,  I had an issue  with  my  mic 2 years after I bought them.  I contacted  the company and a guy from Germany  arranged to send me a new mic free of charge, no questions asked.  I received it in like 3 days.  The ironic thing is that there was no problem with the mic.  It was the sound card that was the problem. I still have them 4 years now and they still work great.

I don't think I have ever paid over $100 for a headset.  Logitech and Razer are mostly what I used.  If I pay more than $100 for a headset I always decide its better to just buy a real 5.1 or 7.1 speaker setup.  Thats just how I personally view the value of headphones.  But, I only use it for gaming and normal audio, nothing professional.

The razors are missing something. They feel cheap almost.
Check out the G35 on Amazon.com
Im two years in with them and have not looked back.
