How cold does YOUR GTX 580 run when folding?

Status: offline Ribbons : 16 Wednesday, December 12, 2012 4:44 AM (permalink) So, I finally got my primary build up and running! After a barrage of crazy bad luck, I still pulled through! I'll post a section in the Mods Rigs after I manage to collect all the photos and upload them (takes ages on this caveman internet connection). Currently, I'm running GPU Tracker V2 on my stock EVGA GTX 580 1.5GB. No overclocks yet! Here's a quick shot of it after folding for almost 24 hours... Highest temp I've seen was 40C, and that was the occasional spikes. Temps are steady around 39C on average. Using a Heatkiller copper full cover block! Room temps around 75F. I average about 10C lower than my previous custom loop setup... mainly because I upgraded my pump from the X2O 750 to the MCP655B. Also running dual radiators now, an EX360 and an EX240! Now my temps at full load is actually LOWER than my IDLE TEMPS before I put my GPU under water. Out of the box config, the EVGA GTX 580 idled around 44C and hit almost 90C when folding! Running the GTX 590 Classified (2 GPUs and 1 [link=mailto:fan@max]fan@max[/link] rpm). Bought new and on my second RMA, stock clocks, 7fans, case open and heating the neighborhood. I have to agree with you on EVGA needs to do better on the heat problem. Looking forward to your pics on this build and thanks for sharing......... #2

Wednesday, December 12, 2012 1:52 PM (permalink) That is very nice. I run around 70-75 C on the 76XX units (and that's with my office windows open (room ambient is around 65-68 F.). Hopefully I'll be able to get my 580's under water here soon (at least before the summer months). Looking forward to pictures! #3

Thursday, December 13, 2012 9:19 PM (permalink) Was slightly above freezing outside last night, no heaters in the house... and the computer room temps were in the mid/high 70s. This is from a single GTX 580 folding! In my loop, the water goes from the GPU block directly to the top mounted EX360 radiator before going to the CPU/VRM. The top exhaust of the case literally blows HOT air when the GPU is folding. Amazing how much heat this thing puts out. I don't fold anymore since a while, but my 670 reference usually stays at mid to high 30's C under gaming load or high 40ish when stress testing it, ambient around 80F. never see it going above 50C anymore even under max stress and when OC'ed to limits. #5

Block is XSPC Razor 670, but I used a so so TIM and didn't even bothered to check the print on block LOL! will replace it with Liquid Ultra next time I open it up (in a year perhaps LOL!). my PC stands right by (2ft away from) heater though and air temp at computer intake (front 360 rad is there) is at 27-28C. might fire up some folding over weekend to see the temps under GPU folding load. #7

Has to be a way to at least block the heater vents or something! If I were you I'd complain like crazy!! I wish I had a block for it though, or one of those EK GPU ones. I fold on my 580 (currently my best GPU) because of the lifetime warranty.
