Quick back story.  Originally I was folding on my 980 and my I7-4970K.  One of the fans on my 980 died and took the card with it.  So I stopped folding for a couple days.  Since I've had to reinstall win7, when my 980 came back from RMA(Thank you EVGA for good experiences) I installed it then downloaded the FAH and installed.  When I opened it up the first time I didn't see my GPU no biggie I shut it down and went to work on something for work and realized I didn't install cuda.  Installed it and tried FAH again.  still no GPU, so I opened the advanced menu and tried adding the slot and got a no GPU found error.  Thinking something got missed I uninstalled FAH restarted my system and then ran CCleaner for kicks rebooted...and reinstalled FAH.  Still no GPU and for some reason I can pull up the web interface for it, but there's no icon for it in my notifications area and still no gpu..

System specs.
I7-4970K
MSI z97 Gaming 7A
16Gb ram
GTX 980 FTW
Driver version 355.60(also tried the last couple older versions with no help along the way)

Any thoughts?

Make sure you have vcredist_x64 or 32 "depending on your OS", installed and also VisualStudio 2013 or better.
Refresh/clean install your driver for the GPU 1st before installing those.

Edit: then do the FaH install once all that is done,"clean install" <<=remove old before you start the above.
Its what I had to do to get FaH installed on Win Server 2012 R2 and working with the latest FaH and a H8QGi+F 4P rig.

Edit2: To add 355.60 driver wasn't out yet when I set this rig up so I have the version just before it installed on that rig.
Personally I had problems with 355.60 on my laptop, but that's another story and the only computer I have tested it on so far.
May not need VS, I installed it anyways as I do some Cryptocurrency mining and is called for for those mining programs.

A reason why FAHClient does not recognize your GPU could be an empty GPUs.txt file (I've just posted this info also in another thread).

There have been a few problems with an empty GPUs.txt file lately, you can find more info on the Folding Forum:
GPUs not recognized and Empty GPUs.txt file

    Also a few useful links:
    - Information About GPUs.txt File
    - You can download the most recent GPUs.txt file here

Is this going to be an ongoing issue?
